Crab Rangoon III

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
I decided to try this because I don't eat crab meat and I have not been able to find a restaurant that has only cream cheese. so of course I eliminated the crab and also the chestnuts and I added some scallions. I baked half the batch and then fried half and of course everything is better when it's marinated in grease! so long story short, I will definately make these again.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
(8/18/07)This was a good alternative to the package if you don't have it. I already had all of the seasonings needed. At first I was going to skimp on the salt and red pepper as other suggested, but I decided to throw it all in and it was perfectly seasoned. UPDATE (9/20/07)- I used this on a pound of ground turkey and it was great! I used rounded scoops and you could on even tell it was turkey. My husband wanted tacos again the following night.

Spinach Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
I started making this on Saturday afternoon with the intention of finishing up the next day as suggested. Well I put it in the fridge, and it didn't come out until Tuesday (I was very busy). Nonetheless, I rolled it up in the tortillas, sliced it up, and YUMMM! My whole family enjoyed this recipe. It's pretty rich so you can't eat too much at once. But it is very good in moderation. I will definately make this again.

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
I did not like this rice at all. I used half chili powder and half cumin as others suggested and it was still too spicy. My husband enjoyed it and said it tastes like real Spanish rice. I guess I'm just a spoiled brat American who prefers the 'San Francisco treat'.

I was sort of disappointed at first, but this was pretty good. It was better over the next few days.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2007
I followed this recipe exactly and it was not all that great. I did not like the texture and the flavor was sort of bland. I did like what the cottage cheese added to the flavor. I may try this again, but adding more seasonings and cheese. I didn't add the topping as I've never had mac n cheese that way. Maybe next time.

Pina Colada Punch

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2007
I halved this recipe and it was pretty good. I had to freeze it overnight and then chop it up to get it to a nice slushy consistency, which made it even better. I actually loved the crused pineapple texture.

Baked Omelet Squares

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2007
This was great! My only changes were I used cooking spray in lieu of the butter and used only 10 eggs (egg substitues to reduce the cholesterol). I forgot to season the eggs, so i just sprinkled pepper on top. I figured the cheese and ham would compensate for the salt. The taste and presentation were great. I will definately make this again trying different veggie combinations.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
Due to the great ratings, I had high hopes for this recipe but was very disappointed. It was too soupy, even with 2 cans of beans. HOT was the only seasoning I could even taste. I'll stick to my usual off-the-seasoning-packet chili.

Holiday Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2007
This was my first attempt at chicken salad and I was a little leery of the ingredients; but with such high ratings, I figure it had to be good. I used left over rotisserie chicken, omitted the cranberries and bell pepper. I made it a little too sweet by using miracle whip instead of mayo. Still even so, I loved the crunchiness and flavor. I will definitely make this again. Next time I’ll try it exactly according to the directions.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
I was not particularly thrilled by this recipe. The topping was okay, but had a wierd texture and the fish was bland. My son liked it, but my husband and I were not impressed. I will not make it again.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
I made this dish last night and had it for breakfast this morning along with 2 slices of turkey bacon, and it was GREAT! My alterations: I used 2% sharp cheddar cheese, fat free cottage cheese, five eggs, added garlic powder and omitted the crutons. I didn't have a 9in pie pan and I didn't think it would fit into the 8in so I used a rectangle pan and it fit perfectly. I baked at 325 for an hour and it was perfect. Now I have a heat-and-go low carb breakfast for the entire week. Thanks for this submission!

Ham Roll Ups II

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2005
I made these for a pot luck at work and they were great. A little more time consuming than the recipe states, but well worth the time. I will be making these again for sure.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
This recipe was great. A few changes I made were: added extra cheese and ham, actually used turkey ham. I also used low fat yogurt instead of the sour cream. It smelled great baking and tasted great when it was done. My son didn't like it, but I loved it. This will be my next pot luck dish.

Best Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
I had never even tasted green bean casserole before but figured it must be good since everyone else eats it. Well I hated it, and so did my son. The taste was horrible. I don't blame the recipe, I just didn't like it.

Cocktail Meatballs I

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2005
I made this for our Christmas pot luck at work and they were great. It was my first attempt at home made meatballs and I was quite impressed. I used ground turkey instead of beef and baked the meatballs then added them to the sauce. I let them marinate overnight and the next day they were excellent.
