Chicken Korma II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Made this exactly as shown except I added golden raisins. Once it was "finished" it was too runny so I turned it up and reduced it. I also had to add salt because it was a little bland before reducing. Once actually finished, all of my kids liked it a lot. (One even hates Indian food.) My husband and I would have liked more flavor. I will make it again, but i may doctor it a little next time.

Oven BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
These were easy and excellent. I actually made one slab with this recipe and one using a crock pot method. the crock pot ribs were mealy. These were perfect. The bbq sauce looks odd and my kids didn't want to try it at first, but they liked it once they did. It has a great taste, not overly sweet. A keeper!

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2007
This was totally melt in your mouth great, but it was too salty for our taste. We used Trader Joe's Hawaiian Black Sea Salt and it was soo salty we couldn't finish the meat and our teeth were squeaking. I will try again tomorrow with less salt because it was delicious.

Chicken and Lentils

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
This was really good. I used 1 tsp fresh basil instead of 1/2 dried because my husband, the food snob, said that dried basil is really to be used when it can cook for awhile for the flavors to escape. We all liked it and then, my husband put a few drops of a very nice Balsamic vinegar and some long shavings of parmesean reggiano cheese on it for garnish and wow! I thought it was good but when he did that, I knew what the others were talking about when they said it needed something more. I will add the Balsamic after the lemon juice from now on. Thanks! We love this!

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
Good Chili. It tastes a lot like my mom's. Some of us added a little bit of spaghetti to cut the heat. I cut the beans to 1 can and the chili powder to 1 tbsp and it still had a kick. Family said it's a keeper.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2006
They had a nice flavor, but they were very dry. I make breaded pork chops once a week and they are never dry. I used bone-in, about 3/4" thick, but they were definately overdone if you follow the directions. My 7 yr old daughter said she felt like she was eating the inside of her shoe.

Skyline Chili I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2006
I am from Cincinnati and eat at Skyline not less than once or twice a week. This recipe looks right except Skyline has chocolate in it. I will make and review. Try this mixed with blended chili beans in a burrito like at the restaurant. Check out the Skyline website for other ideas. The more you try it, the more you start to crave it.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2006
This is the recipe my mom has used since I was a child. Ritz crackers are the key. For everyone using substitutes for the breading, you are missing out on the best breading. Also,"flash" brown the chops at high to med/high heat to keep them moist (as you would veal).

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
So easy and really good. I was looking for something easy to use on frozen shredded potatoes that would please my kids and this is perfect. It only took 20 minutes using the frozen shredded potatoes from the bag.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2005
This recipe is no different than any other Plain-Jane-Banana Bread! This is not a special recipe. Maybe it would have more flavor if I topped it with a crumble topping before baking. I used the extra brown sugar and cinnamon and fresh grated nutmeg as was previously recommended and it's still really quite bland. I will not use again as I have a more flavorful recipe with sesame seeds. This is an easy foolproof recipe for moist BB, but not special.

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2004
These were really good and my picky kids liked them too. They taste like Pumpkin Ice Cream from Graeter's if you know that chain. (Oprah's favorite)Very warming flavor.
