About this Cook
I have always loved to cook and now that I am married I have a reason to! I've always modified the recipes I made, but have gotten to the point I create my own concoctions for dinner most nights. It is a rare occasion that we eat the same thing twice for dinner.
My favorite things to cook
I would make Italian for dinner every night if I thought my husband would eat it! I love trying different ethnic food, especially Korean and Mexican. I like to bake for other people simply because I will eat the entire dessert that I make on my own.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Millions of Christmas cookies each year, as well as the all important birthday cakes.
My cooking triumphs
I'm finally reaching my goal of creating my own (edible) dinners without any direction from a recipe. I think this is what makes cooking "creative."
My cooking tragedies
When making my perfected lasagne for a group of friends, the noodles were not completely cooked when I put them into the dish. Although I thought they would finish cooking in the oven, they did not. We ended up ordering pizza and eating it along with my salad and garlic bread. It was embarassing, to say the least.

Quick Gnocchi
This was so good! I've will never go back to old-fashioned, real potato gnocchi. I made this recipe exactly, except I added 1/2 c. grated parmesan and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg. Because of that, I used slightly less flour than called for. Also, I made it about 8 hours in advance, refrigerated it, then rolled and cut it just before boiling it. I would completely recommend you try it! Just as good as real potatoes and 100 times better than store bought.

Chicken Tikka Masala
I give this five stars after the salt modification (reading other reviews, I added 1/2 tsp for the marinade, as well as 1/2 tsp for the sauce). I thought that was perfect. If you like spicy food, the spice is perfect. If not, cut back because it is quite warm! Also, I know its typical of the region, but I didn't care for the cinnamon in it. I didn't think you'd actually be able to taste it in the final result, but you could. Next time I will leave it out all together (just personal preference). This recipe is awesome!!

Deer Poppers
We loved this recipe. I served them at a party and all the people who hate venison loved them. I did add a small slice of pepperjack cheese between the venison and jalapeno, which I liked. It was also 3 degrees the night of our party, so I cooked them in the oven (400 degrees for about 20 min) and they were very good. I would think they'd be even better grilled, as the recipe suggests. I would recommend this recipe to anyone who has game in their freezer to use up!
