Slider-Style Mini Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Krystal Burgers. Made these and cut the recipe in half. Used 1 lb ground beef, 2 Tbs of onion soup mix, and added about a Tbs of minced dried onion. These are Krystal burgers made at home.

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
Very good. I may use half the pepper flakes next time. I will be using this recipe next time I am making meatball subs. They are much better than the supermarket wheatballs in a bag.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
Great way to make chicken! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside! I used olive oil and my own mix of spices. But the idea is the same. I have a Weber gas grill and cooked a 4 ½ lb. bird over indirect medium heat for an hour and a half. Temperature at the thigh was over 180, and it was definitely done. With the chicken cooking upright like this, all the meat is able to be used. It just pulls off of the bone. They sell beer can holders at Lowe’s for $4. It makes it so the chicken won’t fall over while cooking. I didn’t use a drip pan either, since I was cooking over indirect heat. One last suggestion, use Icehouse 16 oz. cans. It is cheap beer that actually tastes like beer. (Not good beer, but beer) and the tall cans work better to hold the bird upright.

Excellent bread but make sure the brown rice is completely cooked.

Washabinaros Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Good but I will make some changes if I ever make it again. The sausage and the sugar overpowered everything else. The sausage gave it a spaghetti sauce taste. I had to add some vinegar after tasting it and thought it was too sweet. I like beer in chili but couldn't taste it over the sugar and sausage. I didn't notice the coffee. There was a good taste coming through though and it was probably the wasabi and chilies. I may try it again but use pork instead of sausage and not add any sugar unless I think it needs it at the end.

Strawberry Daiquiri II

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2009
Made this and used fresh strawberries. Not sure exactly how much rum. I made this after the margarita mix ran out. It wasn't that good, salt wasn't necessary, but we didn’t care. :)

Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
Excellent! The only deviation we did was to use dried minced onion and dried parsley. I’m not sure what the reviewer Michelle did wrong but, there were no burning tongues here. Maybe the type of onion she used, and me using dried minced onion made the difference. I got a huge kick out of LAMB2LOVE’s review. Reminds me of my aunt whose end results resemble the recipe in name only. (Great cook though) Excellent homemade blue cheese dressing, highly recommended.

Mushroom Saute

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
Excellent. I only had one 8oz. package of mushrooms to use. I didn't worry about measuring the ingredients, and just tossed in what I thought was enough spice, and added a little fresh garlic. It turned out great served with some grilled chicken.

Mushroom Cube Steaks

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
I'm sorry but it tasted like hamburger. Maybe try marinating the steaks overnight, it may give it a little more flavor. It was a lot of work for a dish that just tastes like a fried up hamburger with mushrooms and onions.

Cajun Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
Excellent chicken recipe. Pounding the chicken flat first really cut down on the cooking time and kept it from getting dry. It wasn't too spicy either. I used Tupperware's Ragin’ Cajun and their Italian seasoning spice. I actually marinated it overnight, for convenience sake, and it turned out excellent.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: May 9, 2006
EXCELLENT! Pouring the glaze in the pan and putting the cake back in it really made it great. I made it with Captain Morgan's Spiced rum. I have some chocolate ameretto rum now that I want to try it with. 5 stars all the way!

Excelent soup, especially with the cheddar, sour cream and tortillia chips. This will be a regular at my house.
