Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
I adore this recipe.. It is so easy to make and always pleases everyone. I always add a lot of parmesan to the sauce while it cooks to help thicken it, and because we like more cheese flavor than the recipe calls for. Sometimes I add a pinch of cornstarch to help with the thickening. Add zuccini and summer squash to this. Yummy.

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
This is so simple, but it tastes so good! I love to use this recipe with parsnips, or parsnips and carrots. I always use butter, and I can't say I ever measure what I put in....just eyeball it. But what a great idea--brown sugar on veggies!

Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon with Port Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
Holy cow!!! This is one of the most amazing combinations of flavors I have ever had. My boyfriend always asks for this, and if I don't feel like cutting onions to make the sauce, he will cut them for me because he loves it so much. If you don't like blue cheese then at least try this with gorgonzola-which I actually prefer. I also sear the meat (tenderloin or sirloin filets) and then use the broiler to cook it instead of the regular oven setting.. I would guess I do about 10 minutes per side (we like our meat brown). Try this recipe because you will not be disappointed with these flavors.

Buffalo Jack Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
I didn't realize that opening a jar of store-bought sauce constituted a recipe. This smelled awful, I only made it because my boyfriend found the recipe and begged for buffalo sauce. He loved it, but it wasn't something I couldn't come up with on my own.

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
YUMM-O! These were so simple tasting, but got better with each bite. Instead of making a hole, I made a thumbprint which is undoubtedly easier to fill. I used Dickenson's raspberry preserves and dusted the cookies with powdered sugar once they were cool. Beautiful cookie.

Orzo and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2005
I love this recipe. I always saute some fresh minced garlic and chopped white onion a few minutes before I throw in the orzo. Also, I have never used cubes, I always use chicken stock (broth works too), it's easier for me and I think actual stock tastes better. You could add so much to this dish: peas, broccoli, cheese, mushrooms...I love its versatility.

Grandma's Gingersnap Cookies

YUUUUM-EE! These were fantastic. They are super easy to make and they got even crunchier over the next couple days. I have been craving these ever since I fought over the last cookie with my mom.

Chocolate Cakes with Liquid Centers

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
I thought these cakes were super easy to make. I like to add just a bit more sugar to mine, I just eyeball about another teaspoon. I also find it easier to use the microwave rather than a double boiler to melt my chocolate. The baking time is definitely not long enough, but you just have to keep an eye on them. I don't use a timer, but I would guess I bake them for about 10 minutes. I open the oven and see if the centers jiggle--as soon as only the very center is jiggling, I pull them out. I've never had a problem with these--you just have to use your common sense with the baking. Oh--and I also use cocoa powder to dust my ramekins with because I felt that flour might show up and ruin the presentation. Serve these with your favorite vanilla bean ice cream and you're good to go!

Garlic and Leek Ditalini

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2005
This dish was pretty good. It was basically just an alfredo sauce. I didn't think it would be good over ditalini, so I used orecchiette instead. I also used a full cup of cream because there wouldn't have been enough juice to coat the pasta. Next time I think I will use only half a cup of cheese because it was a little overpowering for me. Overall this was very tasty and very easy...thanks.

Mushion Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2005
This recipe was nothing special. Not much flavor--and I like bland food. It wasn't terrible, but there really was nothing good about it. I doubt I will be making these again.. It is quicker and much tastier to bread and fry pork chops instead.

Cappuccino Flats

This cookie is so easy to make and perfect as is. Another reviewer suggested drizzling white chocolate on top---that would be mighty tasty! My whole family told me "Coffee cookies...ew!" but once they tasted the cookie, they LOVED it!

Best Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
This chicken was so yummy! I made a couple changes after reading some reviews.. I used 2T lemon juice, 2tsp soy sauce, 1tsp garlic powder, and I left out the celery salt...This way was perfect, not too salty and just enough seasoning. Thanks for the recipe.

Chocolate Mint Pinwheels

AWFUL! These cookies are SO bland...and the dough is a pain in the butt to work with. It took me five tries to roll the dough out without ripping it and being able to pick it up. They look cute, but that is all. What a waste of time.

Molasses Crinkles

These were really simple to make and they tasted great. I used coarse crystal sugar to roll them in, and it added a little bit of a crunch to the outside--very nice.

Schweine Ohren (Pig's Ears)

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
These cookies were okay. They remind me of store-bought cookies that look a lot better than they taste. Maybe I'm just not a fan of puff pastry though. They were, however, extremely easy to make--I used coarse crystal sugar on mine.

Tomato Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2004
I made this sauce over rigatoni for my family and we were practically stealing it off each other's plates! The only change I made was to crush the tomatoes with a hand held blender thingy because I didn't like the idea of those huge chunks on the pasta. I also added some cooked shrimp to the sauce for the last couple of minutes. This was an awesome recipe, thanks so much!
