Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
They were good, but they still had a little bit of a funky taste to them? My husband actually likes them more than I do!

Moo Shu Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
We actually really liked this. Made some changes - no sesame oil. Used those rice noodles and served it over that since flour tortillas would have seemed too think. Couldn't find the authentic thin wraps it's supposed to be served with. Used less pork and added mushrooms. Will add more ginger next time. This will be a staple in our house!

Insanely Easy Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2005
This recipe is excellent--it's so versatile and it's a staple in our home. I like to add beef or vegetable broth instead of water, and drain the corn before I put it in. So healthy!

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2005
This soup was excellent. I added one crushed garlic clove and did half vegetable broth. The broth I used was too salty--I'll keep it in mind for the next time. Thanks for a great recipe!

Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2004
I agree with the other reviewer that the taste was great, but that it didn't really firm up...is it because I didn't cook it for long enough? I did cook it until it coated the spoon...I'm not sure.

Delicious Apple Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2004
This is a wonderful basic recipe: I tripled the batch, didn't use as much cinnamon as called for, and probably only a tablespoon total of brown sugar. I think the amount of sugar needed depends on the sweetness of the apples, and preference, of course. I also chopped the apples instead of grating them...I liked the texture like that. I will definitely make this again!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2004
This "soup" (actually more like a thick rice mixture) was wonderful and I will definitely make it again! Thanks for the recipe!

Apple Pan Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2004
This was so good! I loved the thyme with it, really gave it something special. I doubled the amount of apple juice, reserving some and adding a bit of cornstarch to it, to thicken the sauce. I will definitely make this again!

Crepes

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2004
Sad to give a bad review, but I made these for my husband's birthday breakfast and together we decided we were eating something that tasted more like a tortilla than a crepe. So I dumped a bunch of sugar in and thinned it out with some more milk and that helped a bit...but only a bit!

Orange and Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
The taste came out wonderful, but I think the recipe needs a little tweaking, which I did: I sauteed garlic and the celery with the onions, and added 1 1/2 tbsp herbes de provence and pepper. I didn't have any bay leaves or carrots, but I added just one chopped tomato for flavor. I also took reviewers' advice and reduced the liquid...but it still came out much more runny than lentil soup I'm used to. But, the flavor was wonderful, and I will definitely make it again! Yum!

Rosemary Chicken with Orange-Maple Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2004
Oooh I liked this recipe! I took reviewers' advice and used half the amount of maple syrup, and I added some cornstarch to reserved orange juice to put in at the end to thicken the glaze. My husband loved it and thinks I'm an amazing cook...this recipe is easy, too.

Easy Cinnamon Fudge

Mmmmm, I liked this stuff, even though I dumped in too much cinnamon...it's definitely a unique taste. Great!

Hot Spiked Cider

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2004
This was good, but I thought it was absolutely too sweet...maybe it's just a matter of taste...but woo, I couldn't drink a whole cup! It was just too much!

Pasta e Fagioli II

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2004
This soup was good, but was kind of missing something until I added fresh parsley and, more importantly, a parmesan cheese rind. The rind made all of the difference--it really rounded out the flavors.

Sauteed Apples

Yep, this was absolutely wonderful. We ate it on pork chops, but I think you could eat it any way you fancy and it would still be great.

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2004
This was a very good soup, but we found it a tad too rich...just a matter of palate, though. The kind of thing that you love at the beginning and then OD on if you eat too much! We did try to add a bit of water lighten it up a bit!

Creamy Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2004
This soup was wonderful, though I changed a couple things: I substitued the 2 cups of carrots for two cups of canned, drained corn. I also added 2 tsp herbes de provence, and used fresh parsley at the end, along with lots of pepper. That seemed to give it a well-rounded flavor. It was so satisfying!

Creamy Rice Pudding

This was wonderful -- I followed the recipe perfectly, except for omitting the raisins, and my husband said he had never tasted rice pudding so good! I highly recommend it!

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2004
This soup was wonderful...since my husband and I are living on a budget (in France...) we replaced all the meat with 1 1/2 cups of "lardons," a cross between ham and bacon, in which we sauteed the onions and doubled the garlic. We also used chicken broth instead of water and seasoned with herbes de provence and 2 tbsp hot dijon mustard. It was amazing--a very flexible recipe!
