Ojai Roast Turkey with Rosemary, Lemon, and Garlic

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
WOW!!! This was the best turkey I've ever had!!! The seasoning scared me a little that it may be too aggressive but I was soooo wrong. The combination of seasonings in the turkey mixed so beautifully with all to the other food served and the smell was fabulous!! I will be using this one from now on!!

Curried Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
I thought this was pretty good. It is very soupy. I believe next time I will omit the 8 oz. tomato sauce. I added 2 large diced potatoes, several sliced carrots and a handful of peas to give it a little more color. I also used diced tomatoes itstead of stewed. I also will say that I stuck with the 3 Tbsp. of sugar and thought it was just right.

Slow Cooker Bean Casserole AKA Sweet Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
ok...let me preface this by saying that I don't usually like sweet chili. I loved this recipe. It was tasty and easy. I made these changes. corn syrup instead of molasses(personal preference)1 pound ground beef, 1 chopped onion, 1 can drained kidney beans, 1 8oz. can tomato sauce, 1 tsp. chili powder, and 1 Tbsp brown sugar. I browned the beef, cooked the onions and peppers and cooked the whole thing on low for 6-8 hours. oh yeah, I used porkless baked beans. :)

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
my husband said this was the best buffalo chicken pizza he's ever had. I used only half a bottle of blue cheese, olive oil instead of butter, and yes...I soaked the chicken in the hot sauce first. I also drizzled a little hot sauce over the pizza. Delicious!!!!!

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
This was wonderful, but that is with the following changes...rice cooked in chicken broth, omit the cream of mushroom soupand chopped onion. After the first layer of chicken give the whole thing a generous shake of southwest seasoning. Very quick and very easy!!!

Pumpkin Fluff Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
I thought the flavor was very nice....definitely VERY easy. I wish I had read the reviews, I probably would have made it with the small container of cool whip. I'm not sure about these people adding so much extra seasoning...It is subtle, not bland. Very nice and light. I served it with the graham cracker fingers.

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
Yummy!!! We loved this. I have actually served this for a dinner party. Everyone loved it!! I made these changes...chicken broth instead of water, balsamic vinegar instead of white vinegar, and omited the celery seed...personal preference, I hate them. :) The flavor of this dish is delightful. Very robust!

Green Beans with Bread Crumbs

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
This was delicious!!! However, it was only because I followed the suggestions of others and omitted the bread crumbs. I used 1 1/2 pounds of fresh green beans, steamed them then tossed them in olive oil and spices, and sprinkled them with parmesan cheese. very nice.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
This was delicious. A wonderful soup for a cold winter night!! Here are the changes I made....2 cans white beans, 1 can black beans(for color and texture)3 cups chicken broth, 4 Tbsp water and 2 Tbsp corn starch to thicken it and 1/2 cup sour cream just before serving. Top with more sour cream, cheese and chopped tomatoes. I also cut the jalapenos down to 1 Tbsp and cayenne to 1/4 tsp. but that is because I have 3 children under 3 years... I think I will increase it as they get older. :)

Green Chili Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
This was really wonderful!!! I was skeptical, I thought it would be too strong of chili's. I didn't change a thing and it was fabulous! A nice hearty man stew. Meaning....your husband will love it!!!

Mexican Chicken Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
This soup is wonderful! A nice hearty soup. Would definitely qualify as comfort food! I added 1 tsp of cumin, 1 tsp of chili powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika(the most amazing kiss from God for soup!!! warm and smokey flavor!!!),1 large carrot shredded, 2 potatoes in big chunks and an added can of corn. If you don't like the big chunks of chicken, you can boil your chicken breasts and shred it (when cooled) with your fingers. It gives a much smoother consistancy! On a scale of 1 to 10....my husband gave it an 11!! :)

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
This was fabulous!!! We all loved it.....with these alterations: I omitted the 2 cups of water. It would have been just too runny. I also drained the corn but left the sauce of the beans in. I also added 2 tsp of minced garlic. I have made this several times and have given the recipe out to friends.....no complaints!!!

Chicken Fiesta Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2005
Wow this was soooo yummy!!! I made a few changes...I used taco seasoning, just because it is what I had, I used 11 oz sweet corn and put a touch more salsa in to moisten it a bit more. I followed the suggestion of another review and put the salad on the plate, beautiful blue corn chips around the outside of the plate, The bean corn mixture on the center, topped with chicken. I garnished with green olives, avocado slices, tomato slices and shredded cheddar. Oh yes...and a dollop of sour cream. It was really lovely. I had some taco seasoning left over. I will definitely make this again!!!

Creamy Smoked Salmon Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2005
This was pretty good, I made a few changes to kick it up a notch. I deleted the onion, mushrooms, and reduced the garlic to 1/2 tsp. I also added some dill....maybe 1/2-1 tsp. There was quite a few people that talked about lack of flavor and cooking their salmon..That could be the problem...smoked salmon doesn't get cooked, it is smoked. It is usually vacuum sealed, not in the same place as fresh fish. I hope that helps

A Jerky Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
This chicken was very good. I used only half a pepper because I was afraid it would get too hot. It did not!!! I wished I had added more, I was looking forward to spicey and it wasn't. I marinated it for 24 hours and put it on skewers and served it over salad. Everyone loved it. I had some chicken left in the marinade that I used after 2 days of marinating and it was even better. Enjoy!!
