A couple of years ago I found something else that changed my life forever.  I discovered my slower cooker or crock pot.  I realized I could start the slower cooker in the morning and when I got home dinner would be ready.  It's AWESOME!!  There are times when I have two going at the same time.  There is nothing I will not cook in it.  I use it for BBQ chicken, roast, meatballs, Big Rick's Honey mustard pork chops, Big Rick's Chili fix ins, chicken teriyaki and stew.  I spend a day and make about 20 slower cooker meals that I can freeze. It's easy and fun. Try it today and you will fall in love with it too.

We would have gone hungry many nights if I had not used my slow cooker back when the kids were growing up and involved in every sport, activity imaginable! I still use my slow cooker several times a month and love it. My son, who is almost 25 and lives 1500 miles away, has discovered the joys of slow cooker cooking. He called me just yesterday to tell me he had his crockpot full of chili and his house smelled amazing.

Hi, Ruth! You caught my attention when you said you freeze meals from your slow cooker. Care to share some of the recipes you make for the freezer?

Hi Bibi, Here are just a few. We live off these in the winter. I spend one day make about 20 -30 meals. It's a long day but it is worth it. If you google slow cooker freezer meals you will find a lot of them on-line for you to try. Most of the time I will just take the meals out of the freezer and just throw them in the slow cooker without unthawing them and it always turns out. - Sweet Teriyaki Chicken Ingredients: 1 cup soy sauce, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon garlic salt, 1/2 onion, chopped, 1 1/2 lbs chicken breasts Directions: Mix together soy sauce, sugar, garlic salt and chopped onion in a resealable gallon-sized freezer bag. Place chicken breasts inside the bag and zip closed. When ready to eat, remove from freezer and thaw in fridge for 24 hours. Cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or LOW for 7-8 hours. Serve over rice. - Creamy Salsa Chicken Ingredients: 1 lb chicken breasts, 1 (16 oz) jar chunky salsa, 1 (10.75 oz) cream of chicken soup Directions: Mix together salsa and chicken soup in a resealable gallon-sized freezer bag. Add chicken breasts and zip closed. When ready to eat, remove from freezer and thaw in fridge for 24 hours. Cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or LOW for 6-7 hours. When finished cooking, shred chicken and serve over rice, with tortilla chips, over a salad, in tortilla shells, or wrapped in a soft tortilla. Top with cheese, sour cream, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and hot sauce. - BarB-Q Cranberry Chicken Ingredients: 2 lbs chicken breasts, 1/4 cup minced onion, 1 (16 oz) can whole cranberry sauce, 1 cup barbecue sauce Directions: Combine all ingredients in a resealable gallon-sized freezer bag and zip closed. When ready to eat, remove from freezer and thaw in fridge for 24 hours. Cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or LOW for 6-7 hours.

My daughter in-law worked at the hospital, 12 hour shifts. She found many crockpot freezer ideas on Pinterest, and did the same thing, ruthburke. Every time she had to work a she pulled a bag from the freezer and put it in the crockpot frozen. She just moved to Tennessee last weekend to start Physican's Assistant school. Her crockpot went with her. Her husband, our son, is still living here with his job and the insurance. She left him the small crockpot and made family size meals in 2 bags for him so that he could have hot home cooked meals in small portions. I love the way the house smells with crockpot meals. In the summer time I put ours in the garage or outside to not heat up the house.
