Citrus Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
I'm so excited-still. I made my first Thanksgiving dinner and I have to tell you I have some mad respect for mothers who have done it for years. I was so nervous about trying a brine since I never heard of it. So with a what the heck attitude, I tried it and let my bird soak overnight. I only had half a lemon, so I added a lime. My turkey came out so moist and juicy. I have to admit that it was the best turkey I have ever eaten. My guests loved it and I have little leftovers!!! I'll be using this again for my turkey recipes whether it being Thanksgiving or not.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
I thought these cookies were really good. My first batch must have been too thick and I had to bake them longer. I recommend refrigerating it I tried the recipe for serving size and it does take a while. Be prepared to learn patience if you don't have any. It took me longer to make these than what the recipe called for. I'll be making these again since they were good, but only if I have enough time to.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
I made this attending a dinner party. The theme was Summertime Blues and I chose this one and it was perfect! I didn't have some of the fruits and wanted to use the ones I have before they go bad, so I used frozen blackberries diced, pomegranates, any kind of apple, and instead of the preserves I used some leftover cranberry sauce with raspberries. I didn't add the brown sugar and not too much of the white sugar since the cranberry sauce and the fruit was already sweet enough. I ran out of butter spray, so I did like a dipping method and dipped the tortilla in butter mixed with sugar and cinnamon and baked it as the recipe called for. It was a huge hit! Make extra chips though... they're good even without the salsa. A friend of mine used her salsa on some grilled chicken. Others were just spooning it onto their plates and eating it as a sauce. Perfect for after Turkey Day!

I didn't think that this recipe was real flavorful. My family uses Miracle Whip instead of mayo. Also,we add dill pickle pieces and sometimes its juice. To spicen them up,we use horseradish. We do use paprika and rinse our eggs out.
