About this Cook
I have been married for almost 4 years. I am looking forward to buying my first house in Texas this summer. I learned to cook when I was in Middle School and have been cooking ever since. I lived in London for 3 years and love to mix what I learned in Europe about cusine with my knowledge from America.
My favorite things to cook
I am a big cake person. I also love Italian and Mexican food. Desserts are my favorite to eat, but I also love to cook them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned how to make Canadian Butter Tarts from my mom who learned from her mom, and so on. I always cook these at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
I made Thanksgiving Dinner for myself, my husband, and our two best friends from England (One of whom is a professionally trained chef). Everyone loved it. The menu included: Turkey, Cornbread stuffing, Mashed Potatos, Gravy, Spinach casserole, Pumpkin Pie from scratch, and Cranberry Bananna Bread. I was tired, but it was worth it!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to bake in my terrible stove that was in my first flat in London was a disaster. I was making a cake for work. The outsides cooked too much and the middle was still soggy. I quickly learned that if I wanted to bake in that oven, I needed to do small thin cakes.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips
This is really good. I deep fried my tortilla's instead of cooking them in the oven. I did not add extra sugar to the fruit and used raspberry jam. The slightly tart taste of the fruit paired with the sweet chips was great.

Glazed Apple Cream Pie
This is the best apple pie I have ever made. I made the following adjustments: doubled the amount of apples and seasoning, swapped the cinnamon for apple pie spice and added 1 tbl white sugar to the apple mix. Everyone was raving about it on Thanksgiving. They ate more of this than the pumpkin pie!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops
Very good. I changed a few things: tripled the sauce, chopped the apples rather than slicing them, and I cooked the pork chops in a seasoning that I bought from Ralphs. It came with a cook bag, so I cooked the chops in the oven while the apples and sauce cooked. The combined flavors of the seasoning and the apples tasted very nice together. I served this with mashed potatos, biscuits (the biscuits tasted wonderful dipped in the caramel sauce) and green beans. I will definitely make this again.
