White Cake Frosting I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2014
I left out the butter powder and salt. I added 3 teaspoons of imitation almond extract and 6 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder to decorate a chocolate cake. It turned out quite well and added just enough sweetness. I live in a hot climate, so I have to use shortening based frostings to avoid refrigerating every cake I make.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2014
I must agree with most of the reviews I read that the taste is a little bland, even after adding an additional 3 teaspoons of almond extract. The texture was dense, but I actually used this recipe to test my new cake pop maker so perhaps it also has to do with that. After the first batch of cake pops (7 pops) was done I added 1/4 cup of dried coconut powder, 1 tsp of cononut extract, 1tsp cinnamon to the remaining batter and it was a mayor taste improvement. Like this the cake pops took much longer to cook though. FYI I got a total of 21 cake pops out of the whole recipe. I would use this recipe again using additional flavoring and spices.

Date Nut Loaf Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2014
Thank you for sharing this recipe. I made it last Sunday, while cleaning the house, cooking and doing some laundry. It's really that easy to make and it tastes very very nice. I liked it better when totally cooled, as it got more moist. The only changes I made was using brown sugar, 1 extra teaspoon of vanilla extract and I added 1 teaspoon of browning for a darker color. I baked it in a round 8 inch dark metal thin and it took exactly half an hour in my oven at 325 F. Perhaps next time I will check on it after 20 or 25 min for some extra moisture. I will definitely be trying it out with other combinations like prunes and bigareux.
