About this Cook
I really enjoying cooking. My mother was a very good cook. I remember holidays and parties she would cook like it was the last meal. Relatives, neighbors and friends would come over for feasts that would last hours. I also have two brothers who are professional cooks.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook hearty semi-gourmet. I know what flavors I like, and I modify a recipe I am preparing with the flavors I think will be good. I like to make chicken dishes, and things that are quick and full of flavor.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving. September through November is dedicated to this meal. I look for the recipes and flavors I want.
My cooking triumphs
Every Thanksgiving meal so far.
My cooking tragedies
Easter, 2003. I decided to smoke a ham. I went to butcher and got a raw ham. I put it on the smoker for like 6 hours and it was still raw. We ate dinner picking off the pieces that were done.

Garlic Broccoli
I decided to make a summer meal in December because of the unseasonable warm temperatures. This sounded really good, and I just couldn't wait to try it. I just made this about 15 minutes ago and couldn't wait to taste it, so I gave it a little sample. It was delicious. I can't wait to have more and to make it again. They only thing is that I think the head of broccoli that I got from my local grocery was a little small for the amount of marinade, so next time I will double the broccoli or halve the marinade. I also blanched the broccoli to make it a little more tender. Definitely a keeper for me.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots
This recipe gave very delicious, tender (but not mushy) carrots. the flavor was good and not over powering, and the cooking process was very simple. I will definitely be making this recipe again.

Glazed Pork Chops
This was a very tasty, and easy recipe. It was a great way to liven up a pork dish. I often find myself cooking the same things because they are familiar, but this recipe was very tasty, easy and will become a new favorite. My only comment is to watch the cooking process. I broiled per the cooking recommendations and the meat was a little overdone (the only reason I have it a 4 and not a 5 star. If you are familiar with your oven/cooking method, believe that over the times given). I am looking forward to making this more this winter, and I am especially looking forward to using it in the summer for grilling. I don't think you can go wrong with this recipe.
