Restaurant-Quality Maple Oatmeal Scones

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
Adding pecans or walnuts would make this similar to the old-style Starbuck's maple-oat scone that I loved so much!

Chocolate Marshmallow Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
A little too soft/squishy. Didn't hold it's shape well. Especially if you don't wait for the chocolate to cool enough, the marshmallows will melt to make them more soft.

Ultimate Irresistible Granola

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2006
So yummy - dangerously so! It makes a LOT, so you could halve the recipe and it would be fresh every time you eat it. I found it hard to fit it all on my baking sheets. I had to do it in batches.

Gobi Aloo (Indian Style Cauliflower with Potatoes)

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
Agree that this was delicious, but also that you need to almost double the spice. I added red chiles too and chopped up a few of the whole canned tomatoes in my cupboard. It's delicious. I'll make this again but with more chiles.

Curried Cauliflower Red Pepper Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
I loved how tangy this soup was! And it used up a lot of stuff in my refrigerator. We got the Caribbean curry spice from St. Maarten, but you could use another type of curry power instead.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
I found this just OK. I upped the spices and reduced sugar as others suggested and I don't know if that made it better or worse, as I've never made it before. I won't make it again -- I didn't like the vinegary flavour.

Mexican Style Shredded Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
We loved this one, although we didn't use chipotle sauce (made a reasonable facsimile at home) and I'd love to make it again!

Potato, Broccoli and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
This turned out great! Like many others, I made changes: used bacon grease instead of butter (and likely more than in the recipe - I didn't measure), I had probably only a cup or so of cheese and used probably half the stock. But I love it and so did my dad!

Colombian Ahuyama Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
I loved this recipe, and so did my mom! I made some changes, though: instead of red pepper flakes, I put in a minced red chili and used Caribbean curry instead of the regular kind. I used milk instead of cream. And I forgot the parsely. I also used about half the broth. It turned out really thick and creamy. I will make it again!

Beef Roast in Red Wine (Carni Arrosto al Vino Rosso)

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
I did have less beef, so I added carrot and potatoes with it instead, which was good. BUT like other reviewers (which I read too late) the amount of spice was overkill. I also didn't even add the beef broth and still ended up with a very soupy result. I thickened it with cornstarch and it was still quite thin. With changes as other reviewers noted, it would be good though.

Lemon Chiffon Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
It is less a pudding and more cake or flan. I like my lemon stuff more zingy-tart. I even added lemon zest and I found more sweet than tart. Oh well. It wasn't bad, but not to my taste.

Creamy Mushroom Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
I added a LOT more butter (probably 1/4 cup) because I also added a large chopped onion, 4X the garlic and a full package of mushrooms. I also put in some cubed chicken breast and added chopped tomatoes at the end. My spices were: a tsp of thyme, 1/2 tsp oregano and 1/2 tsp parsley. I only used about a tsp of cornstarch and had a cup total of wine and chicken stock when combined, only. We LOVED it!

White Cheddar Macaroni with Bacon and Thyme

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
I've tried out a few bacon-onion mac & cheeses. This was pretty good. I like mine to be a bit more zippy, so I think next time I would add mustard (I like dijon, but you could also add just mustard powder too). I did use less bacon than called for, but next time I would use more. I also just left the bacon in the whole time the sauce was cooking and it was fine.

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
I usually use this mac & cheese recipe but i make a few changes: I add bacon and onions and thyme and mustard. Then it's perfectly to my taste.
