About this Cook
Home schooling mom with 3 kids, LOVE to travel, and go camping at the beach, sea kayaking on Ocracoke NC,river rafting in NC and Tenn, swimming in Lake Tahoe, driving through Big Sur.
My favorite things to cook
I like to experiment on my family and friends. I'm not afraid to make something new and feed it to them for their opinions. I've made some really good BBQ's and desserts, and some not so great side dishes. I am currently trying new breakfast dishes that are low fat, and quick n' easy. Hubby needs to lower his cholesterol, so we eat ALOT of oatmeal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have generations of recipes from my mom, grandmothers, great grandmothers(all Southern), mom-in-law, her mom-which are Dutch. My mom is my greatest role model for cooking, (and life!) She specializes in southern home-cooking. My parents grow their own veggies, and some fruit, they freeze and can foods. My mom loves to feed people, and it seems so easy! Everyone I know thinks she is a great cook.
My cooking triumphs
Fourth of July, about 12 people here at my house-I made GREAT ribs(beef and pork), and a BBQ corned beef brisket which was to die for!
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list!! I burn something once a month-set off the smoke alarms, open the windows, throw the pot out the back door...mom is cooking! : 0

Non-Edible Cinnamon Ornaments
Fun to make ornaments, and they smell so nice!

Amish Yumazuti
Great, easy comfort food. I used one can of the cream soup, one can of milk, and about one can of sour cream. Kids did not like the flavor of the stewed tomatoes, so maybe next time I wil just use regular ones.

Moroccan Tagine
I added more spices(cumin, curry, and cinnamon) as suggested in other reviews, and added some golden raisins. I really enjoyed this!!
