Great soup! Add some onion powder and garlic salt and cut one potato out for a 6 serving batch. Fast and easy!

Lomo de Res, Cuban-Style Rib-Eye Steaks

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
Most excellent just the way I have gotten it in the Caribbean and South America. I suggest using Pacifico or Negra Modelo as it has more of the Cuban Bucanero flavor, more nutty than other Lagers. Also don't get rid of your onion once the marinade is done! I use two onions and then sauté them as a side. Also pair with red or black beans and rice. Can't go wrong here!

German Pancakes II

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
I love this recipe! If you are like me and a crepe is not enough but a pancake or a waffle is too heavy this is the breakfast you have been waiting for. I will be using this one very often! I would suggest making your own buttermilk syrup to go with them, you can find the recipe for that in some of the other German Pancake recipes. I also added a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the pancake mix. I also paired these with scrambled eggs with cheese and fried SPAM. If you don't eat fried SPAM on a regular basis you are probably doing your health a favor but your mouth is missing out!

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
Check out the other reviews as this recipe does need some tweaking. My suggestions are to either half or completely take out the lemon juice. The recipe was going awesome until I added the lemon juice and it completely drowned out all the other ingredients. That is the most important thing to change in my opinion. Other suggestions: 3 Chicken breast halves instead of two. double ALL dry ingredients or choose depending on personal tastes. Then use double the coconut milk. I can't emphasize enough how important reducing the lemon juice is! With that adjustment alone this is a five star recipe. I'm actually being too generous with four stars as it isn't very good if you don't make any adjustments to the lemon juice.

Snow Flakes

Better than most but still short of amazing. Dress them up with FROSTING, SPRINKLES, or SUGAR & CINNAMON and they can ride with the best of them!

Linzer Torte Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Great cookie, a little more love needs to be put into these than most cookies as there is layering involved - Not that difficult to do though - Make sure to use a HIGH QUALITY FRUIT PRESERVE as that will make or brake them! Also would suggest taking the time to make cookie SHAPES instead of the cookie BAR variation, it looks much better and the edges won't get DRIED OUT or BURNT.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
Good but have had better - Not a lot of flavor in the cookie itself, needs to be dressed up with FROSTING or SUGAR and CINNAMON.

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
This is with out a doubt the snack of the Gods! I have loved this style cookie for as long as I can remember, but this is the first time I've ever had them without a bar code on the back. I thought I liked them before... I didn't know jack! These are amazing - Add some crushed peppermint candy cane to part of the batch if you're in to that sort of thing.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
There is nothing "special" about this frosting, that being said there's nothing much here to improve. Tried and true! I mixed it up a bit - I made my cookies with some GROUND CLOVE and CINNAMON - Then for the frosting I replaced 3/4 of the MILK with EGGNOG then sprinkled NUTMEG on top! Next time I might even split the MILK and EGGNOG HALF & HALF

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
Great cookie recipe - I would REDUCE THE SALT a bit if you don't like your cookies tasting salty, I personaly kinda like it but that's a matter of personal opinion. When baking I would recommend a BAKING TIME of between 12-15 minutes. I did my first batch for 10 and they were still dough like in the middle. Lastly I would NOT recommend using MINT EXTRACT. I did and it was like eating cookies after brushing your teath! Stick with the CHOCOLATE MINT DROP in the middle and that's plenty mint flavor to go around!

Vegetarian Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
Good recipe, but not for me, I am a carnivore and I made it for my wife and her family who are vegetarians. I thought it was pretty good at first, aside from it being too thick, I forgot to reduce the oil and flour which I too would suggest. But the next day my brother-in-law decided that a can of Cream of Mushroom soup was a better choice and after trying that as well I would have to agree, that is great for me though! Next time its CofM soup for the Vegsters and I'll be making some real gravy for myself.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
Great recipe! I can't really make a total judgment on a first try but for my first time preparing a Turkey it was awesome!!! I always envision a far more buttery flavor when you use a stick or so of butter and am always disappointed about it never being that way, don't really want to use more but maybe I'll try 2 sticks next time. But other than my little stretch on reality it was great, can't say it was better than some I've had, but definitely just as good as the best of the best! I didn't use a oven bag either so that's another thing to consider next time.

Cranberry Apple Raisin Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
Great Recipe, I have never been a stuffing fan and typically would eat it only to be polite. But this is a great alternative to the same old stuffing! Great with yams and cranberry sauce and tastes amazing both fresh and as leftovers. I also added some cream sherry to the recipe for a little extra kick, gave it a spiced rum flavor similar to rum cake. Might try strait out Captain Morgan next time!!!
