Never, Never Fail Pie Pastry

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
Am I impressed or what! This is an excellent recipe. My husband said that this was the best apple pie that I had ever made and I have been making pies for 50 years. The pastry was lovely to look at and so, so flakey. Clumped together easily and rolled out easily. I used Crisco because that is what I had on hand. Might try to reduce the shortening a bit next time to see if there is any difference.

Homey Chicken and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2013
The question was - what can I make with the left over barbequed chicken? Tired of chicken pot pie so tried this. It was excellent and super easy to make. I did not have the fat free soup so used what I had. Will try the fat free next time.

Green Bean and Mushroom Medley

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
This is a tasty dish with a very attractive presentation. I did not add the carrots because I already had another carrot dish and still it was excellent. Many postive comments from our family. Think I will try adding garlic to the onions but the recipe did not have the feel of missing anything. Did cut down on the butter and did not add the salt. If people think it needs salt - they can add their own. Will definitely make again.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Very good soup. Made as directed and only mistake was that I should have doubled the recipe - it was that good! My husband did not want hot sauce in his bowl so I only dribbled some into my bowl. I liked it best with the hot sauce. Will definitely make again.

All-Bran's Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Excellent recipe! Moist, plump & flavourful. Liked that there was only 1/4 cup of oil. I doubled the blueberries and used pineapple juice because that was what I had. My husband said "don't lose this recipe" - so that had to mean that it was good!

This is just too, too good. Could hardly stop eating it. Did double the blueberries and it seemed like the right amount. Will definitely make again.

Curried Cauliflower

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I have been making a similar recipe for many years but based on some reviews here, I made a few changes. I added 2 sauteed diced onions, added 1 1/2 cups of frozen peas and reduced the mayo to a bit over 1/3 cup. I forgot to add the milk but will try that next time. The additions really took this recipe to the next level and everyone loved the end result. For the topping I melted butter and added bread crumbs.

Stuffed Shells IV

Excellent taste! Did not use the spinach, boiled some broccoli with the pasta shells & chopped the broccoli when cooked. Did not make any other changes & will definitely make again. Thank You!

Russian Cabbage Borscht

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
This is probably my 3 grandsons favourite soup recipe - and these are children who seldom want to eat what is good for them. I make the recipe as stated but for the tomato puree (because I was not sure what was meant) I puree a jar of my canned tomatoes. I double or triple the recipe & feed the crowds! Pampered Chef has a "simple slicer" which slices the potatoes, beets & onions easily & evenly. Thank you for an excellent recipe!

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
This is excellent! My husband said this is the best soup I ever made - & I have been making soups for 40 years! When I read the ingredients I couldn't see how this would be any better than other soups I had made - but it is. I used 1/2 Portebello & 1/2 white mushrooms. Next time will use all Portebello.

Sunday Company Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
This recipe is just too good! The sauce is awesome and is good over everything from rice to potatotes to vegetables! I did not have the cream so used 1% milk and it was still great! Will definitely make again.

Grandmother's Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
I needed a pound cake for a strawberry trifle that I was making. After viewing many, many on this site I decided on this one. So glad I did! It was excellent - moist but firm and people were going back for seconds of the trifle. Thank you.

Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
Just too good! I too used butter instead of shortening. After the 25 minutes in my oven, I was afraid that they were under cooked so put back for app. another 6 minutes or until golden brown as the recipe calls for. Will make again. Bars are addictive!

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Very nice home made soup! Even without the paprika (thought I had but didn't) it still was excellent. Both of my sisters requested the recipe. Next time I will add the paprika.

Fresh Pear Bread

Took to a group gathering - bread went in no time! Did not have enough pecans so threw in some raisins. Substituted 1/4 c. applesauce for 1/4 cup of the oil. Made 4 mini loaves & 5 muffins with remaining batter. Excellent at muffins as well.

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Excellent recipe! People were begging me to bring the cake again next week! Made 1/2 topping, reduced flour to 1 1/2 cups and increased milk to 3/4 cup. Baked in spring form pan and will do the same again. Cake good at room temp. but even better warm. Definitely going into my recipe file. Thanks!

Certainly makes sufficient for a crowd! Nice light taste. I did use whipping cream instead of the frozen whipped topping which I prefer. Easy to make recipe and will make again.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: May 13, 2007
These muuffins are very, very good! I increased the chocolate chips to 1 cup and it was the right amount. The yogurt is an excellent addition. The muffins turned out moist, flavourful and not overly cakey. This recipe has been put into my file.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Just an excellent recipe! Cookies do not excessively spread out which I love. I formed the cookies with my mini muffin scoop and it made the perfect sized cookies. These are addictive!

Apple Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
I have been looking for a recipe that tasted like the expensive coleslaw we buy from the turkey deli. Well, this one fits the bill! My husband just loved it and told me not to misplace this recipe.
