I was raised in the Midwest but learned to love food from around the world after I joined the Navy. I lived in Italy for three years and almost all of my Italian recipes come from the Catania province of Sicily.
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything. I have many styles and variations of things that I cook, and am always looking for something differant.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We throw out the cookbooks, the measuring cups and any other cooking "how to" stuff. No one in my family writes any recipes down or uses exact measurements. It took me a long time to learn exactly how to do that.
My cooking tragedies
Bread. It is a long story and I come of looking really bad. Don't want to talk about it any more.

This is it! This is really the stuff! It is a little differant that I am used to, but I am not sure what the differance is. I use Sofrito on EVERYTHING. I think it goes with everything, but perhaps that is because it is supposed to! :)

Adobo Sirloin
This is great-but try using one small package of Sazon instead of the 2 tablespoons finely chopped canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and adobo sauce. It results in a much milder taste with a great color. You can find the Sazon on the Ethnic food isle near the adobo sauce. Also, add a little dried Adobo (Goya, of course).
