Savory Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2005
I agree with those of the reviewers that found the sauce a bit bland - however, I added the recommended garlic powder, some seasoning salt, about a tbsp of soy sauce and the taste was dramatically improved. I served the gravy over buttermilk biscuits for a vegetarian version of the classic sausage gravy and biscuits breakfast and my boyfriend loved it.

Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2005
I replaced 1/2 cup of the white sugar with brown sugar, added a tsp. of vanilla and some chopped walnuts, and baked the mixture in a muffin pan. It yielded 15 moist, dense banana nut muffins. My roommates ate nearly all of them within an hour of their emergence from the oven...

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
This was so easy and so good - I followed the recipe exactly and everyone loved the result (in fact, I think I'll keep making it, Thanksgiving or not). This was the only dish I made that didn't yield any leftovers...

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
I took the other reviewers' advice, sauteing garlic and onions in the cooking oil, adding more (hot!) salsa and cheese, preserving the liquid from the black beans, and cooking the whole shebang in the cast iron skillet it was simmered in. I also cooked the chicken in a crock pot before shredding it and tossing it in with the sauteed garlic and onions. This kept the chicken very moist, and I was able to use the broth remaining in the crock pot instead of water to keep everything flavorful and tender. It turned out great and reheats surprisingly well if you have any leftovers. We will definitely make this again. Thanks!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
Holy cow. This is the best guacamole I've made, maybe the best I've had. It goes so quickly at potlucks and parties that I've started doubling and even tripling the recipe each time I make it. Simple, delicious, tasty, and easy to customize. Thanks, Bob!

So easy, pretty, and delicious. Family and friends back home often request batches of these for the holidays. Hard to eat just one, so be careful...

Original Nestle® Toll House® Chocolate Chip Pan Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
Kinda like cake, these are even better the day after baking. I like this recipe as is, though I find that adding chopped pecans and/or walnuts and a little bit of peanut butter improves the flavor.
