About this Cook
I'm a wife, mother & grandmother. I enjoy cooking and I'm always looking for a new and inventive way to prepare a dish. I love to experiment with dishes to make them totally mine. I also collect recipes as a hobby.
My favorite things to cook
I don't think I have one favorite thing to cook. I enjoy the diversity in cooking as a whole, everything from meal planning to baking. I get total enjoyment from seeing a dish come together that others appreciate and love to eat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year at Thanksgiving my son since he was a kid has always asked for my Sweet Potato Pie. He is grown and lives in another state but I still make my Sweet Potato Pie and I always think of him (my little boy) who loves his mama's Sweet Potato Pie!
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say that once I decided I wanted to cook Mexican food at home and started a real attempt at it....I found it wasn't as hard as I had thought and now we enjoy the taste of Mexico at least once a week at home.
My cooking tragedies
Cakes!!! I am a definite PIE BAKER but cakes seem to elude me. I never seem to get it quite right. Either I undercook or overcook them everytime. Once in a "blue moon" I get it right and then there's dancing in the street!!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler
I made this when I was at my son's house as a dessert for dinner. It was a hit! I altered the recipe totally by accident but it was wonderful and I will continue to make it this way. I used a bag of frozen peaches and elimanated the water completely. The flour/sugar/butter mixture was sprinkled on top of the cooked peach mixture and returned to the oven for 20 minutes. It came out splendid. It had it all...crunch, sweet, and cooey. Everyone liked it so much they requested I make it again the next day. Thanks for the recipe.

Best Guacamole
I have never been a fan of Guacamole but after finding this recipe I have to say that we LOVE IT!! I do add fresh cilantro but it's good even without it. It is a great basic recipe for any Mexican dish. Thanks so much for posting this recipe.

Honey Cornbread
Awesome Cornbread!! I am so glad I have finally found a recipe from scratch that rivals any mix I've ever tried. This is the best cornbread I've ever eaten. I made it last night and it was a super hit. I will put this recipe in my "KEEPER" file. I must confess I didn't have any heavy cream so I followed the suggestion of another member who used milk and butter mixture. It worked out fine. I can't wait to try it with the heavy cream. Thanks again for sharing this with everyone.
