Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2014
I used this as a base, but I thought there was way too much butter. Even after I cut it in half. I also did not use a crust, but rather sprayed a muffin tin and made mini quiches to freeze. Oh, I also did not add feta (didn't have any) so for some more flavor I added some rosemary and red pepper flakes.

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2014
I never made egg drop soup so I used this recipe as a starting point and adjusted according to comments /personal taste. If I remember correctly, I steeped quite a few minced green onions & 2 garlic cloves in broth. Added the ginger, a bit of sesame oil, soy sauce, sriracha for some heat and a splash of vinegar for sour as it needed more flavor for my taste. Removed cloves, thickened with 2tbsp cornstarch before adding 3/4 eggs (didn't bother separating one of the eggs-hate waste). White pepper & salt to taste. I also threw in handfuls of fresh spinach at the end to add some vitamins. Served immediately.

Japanese Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2014
I doubled the sauce using only half of the recommended sugar and added some sriracha hot chile sauce to taste. (I think I add cornstarch to thicken it so it would stick) Did not use egg or flour, just salted chicken and poured over chicken legs/thighs after baking them for 30-45 minutes depending on size at 400(thay were big chickens). Baked for another 30 minutes at 375 basting often. For side dishes I Made white rice and for vegetable dish heated a teaspoon of sesame oil and olive oil and stir fried bok choy, spinach, shredded carrots sprinkled with sunflower seeds and soy sauce.

Hearty Ranch and Bacon Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2014
I only made this because I had a packet of ranch in my pantry left over from the super bowl game that I didn't know what to do with. I added carrot and a bit of garlic. Also I drained the bacon grease and added a tad of butter to saute. Could have used olive oil. It was ok, but for a comfort food I like the classic nostalgic flavor of what I remember growing up. I didn't grow up on ranch so that flavor, while subtle, didn't do it for me, and masked the flavors of the veggies IMO. To each there own. Oh, and I did use just a tad of sour cream like many other reviews suggested.

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2014
Cleaned out fridge! Sauteed onions, garlic, fresh spinach. Set aside to cool. Added, a little shredded carrot and shredded yam, some diced green/red peppers, & a few canned mushrooms. Sprayed a 9 1/2 glass pie dish & lined with cheddar then the cooked bacon. Whisked 5 eggs, 1/2 tsp salt (I used salt when sauteing spinach), flour, 1 cup condensed milk, 1/2 cup water, ground black pepper, red pepper flakes, & butter. Added cooled veggies to egg mixture and poured over bacon. Baked approx 1 hr

Vienna Schnitzel

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
My family liked these. But I wanted to suggest this: Try complementing it with cranberry sauce when you serve it. When I lived in Austria this was always served on the side. A great recipe is here on allrecipes titled Cranberry Relish I. It was a hit for Thanksgiving and goes great with this wiener schnitzel. (Warning, the recipe listed makes a large batch.)

Egg Roll Wrappers

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2014
A lot of work and did not turn out. It took a lot of time to make them one by one. Maybe I did something wrong. I'll just stick to store bought.
