Creamy Dill Cucumber Toasties

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
i love this recipe. i only use 3/4 pkg of dry dressing mix. I make it the day before and let it sit in the fridge overnight so the flavors marry together. It is a light and refreshing finger sandwich I like to serve at showers or receptions!

Building Gingerbread

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
I gave it 4 stars because I tweeked the recipe to make it a 5 star! What I did different: I used 4 3/4 cups of flour instead of 5. And I added a little bit of cinnamon and cloves to make it smell yummy. I put all the dry ingredients into my mixer bowl then proceeded to make the shortening, molasses, sugar mix. After I melted the shortening on the stove and mixed in the sugar and molasses, I added it to my mixer bowl (that already held the flour mixture in it.) mixed throroughly for about 1 minute. I formed it into a big ball, then I put it all into a gallon sized ziploc bag. From there, I took 1/3 of the dough out of the ziploc and rolled it out onto parchment paper, did the cutouts and removed the excess(instead of the cutouts). Slid the parchment onto a cookie sheet and baked in the oven for 5-7 minutes. If the dough in the ziploc hardened, I popped it into the microwave for 20 - 30 seconds. The dough was warm to work with but easier. I didn't use any flour when rolling the dough out. It is fairly greasy dough if you warm it in the microwave. Just work quick and if it gets hard, put in micro. The pieces of my house turned out nice and hard. Perfect to build with!!! Good luck.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
Very good. I decreased the sugar by 2/3 C and it was still very sweet. I replaced all the oil with 1 C of applesauce. Turned out fabulous! Everyone loved it! I may even decrease the sugar more next time!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
Awesome! It reminds me of my mother's homemade bread! I have made it several times. So good. I think it is the perfect bread recipe to use for cinnamon rolls. I have made it with half ap flour and half white wheat flour...it was wonderful. I will never use any another bread recipe! I make bread atleast once a week now. It is just that good!

Very good. I doubled the butter to make it lighter and a little less cream cheesy. Yum on top of cinnamon rolls.

very good. Love to serve them with roast dinner. Hubby likes to dip them in the gravy. Yum, yum yum. I also used them for cinnamon rolls. They were great! Light and fluffy. No more frozen rolls for us!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
Very good. Better than any of my favorite restaraunts. Can't wait to try an alfredo pizza with it! Warmed well in the microwave. Just a few seconds is all it needs so that it won't separate.

Fried Rice I

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
I read the reviews and I knew this dish was 5 stars, and yet I was still surprised at how good it was. I added garlic salt instead of regular, and only 1 C of peas, but this recipe didn't need any changes! It is really good. My husband said he liked it better than any take out we've had lately! The bacon adds a subtle rich flavoring. I would have never thought to add it. Very Very Good! I served it with Chicken Lo Mein (which was also very good)and some egg rolls. Yum. A great Asian Meal. It will be a regular on our meal rotation!

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2007
My husband, 4 kids and I really liked this recipe! The chicken was tender and very flavorful and the noodles had just enough sauce. The leftovers are good. A few alterations... I did not add the ginger (didn't have it), and I used canned mushrooms which I chopped finely so my kids wouldn't know they were in there, I also finely chopped a white onion instead of using the green. And just before serving I sprinkled the top with garlic salt and black pepper to taste. Very good. It isnt a quick recipe, but worth the effort. I served this with Fried Rice I, and some egg rolls to make a complete asian style meal. Yum!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
Just made these muffins. So yummy, I made a few changes. I used half AP flour and half white wheat flour. 1/2 cup applesauce instead of the butter. Added 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp nutmeg. And just for fun added 1/2 cup mini choc chips. My kids gobbled them up. I gobbled them up! So fun. Thanks for a great basic banana muffin recipe that can easily be added too!
