I love to try new recipes. Cooking is one of the things I do to relax and share my love with my family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
Lets see...stir fry's, anything with an asian flair, fruit salads or fruity desserts, chicken parm, lasagna, taco salads, anything decadent and delicious!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We are 3rd generation Mexicans transplanted here in Texas. My dad was military most of my life so I am an Army brat. I was exposed to all different parts of the US and so many different ways of cooking: Mexican, Southern, Creole, Arcadian, Northeastern, Hawaiian, Japanese, and so many more. I love the blend I was exposed to and I suppose I use a little of all of them when I approach a recipe.
My cooking triumphs
Chocolate Pound Cake, the best Southern Fried Chicken ever-it was great cold on a picnic, trifles, fresh fruit cobblers, sushi, coconut shrimp, and most recently learning to BBQ without scaring everyone!
My cooking tragedies
Broiling, BBQ until just recently, homemade waffles-my batter came out runny, enchiladas-the cheese wouldn't melt, it just burned. :(
