Classic Minestrone

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2004
This recipe is fantastic because it is so easy to customize it to your own personal tastes. I made a huge stock pot of it, then experimented with suggestions from other reviewers. It was perfect the first time I made it.

Caramel Pecan Pie

UNBELIEVABLE!!! I cannot believe I made something that turned out so yummy. I made this Thanksgiving '03 and everybody LOVED it. It's repeating this year.

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
This was an OK potato soup - not the best I've ever had. It was weird that it wasn't creamy colored, like another reviewer said. Maybe it's the kind of potato I used. I will try it again because I think my hubby 'co-creating' with me might have influenced the outcome:)

Coconut Ambrosia Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
I, too, tweaked the recipe... I didn't get the milk in it... what taste it would enhance, so I used some of the pineapple juice -as suggested by another reviewer. I left out the marshmallows, too, because I was afraid they would make it too (artificially) sweet with the whipped topping. It turned out pretty good, therefore it's a good base recipe for each to tweak to their own taste.

Cocktail Wieners II

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2005
The first time I had these, it was without knowing what was in the 'sauce'. If I had known the ingredients first, I would have been put off (it truly sounds gross) and not even tried them. Glad I didn't know! They are fantastic for parties, etc. (Super Bowl party... they were gone first.)

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2005
Gotta tell ya', I cheated to the nth degree and this dish still came out great... I used minced, dried garlic instead of fresh, and used the sprinkle parmesan instead of fresh. I decided at the last minute to try this dish, so I didn't have anything but the canned green beans and 'substitutions'. You have to give this recipe a try. It's seriously a keeper! Hubby gives it 100 stars:)

OMG! This cake is SO MOIST! My brother is a carrot cake expert, and he raved over this cake. It is so worth making.

Christmas Eve Beef Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2005
Who'd-a-thunk that rosemary could make or break a stew? This is the way I will make it (with my own improvisations to vegetables) from here on out.

Maybe we did something wrong, but I don't know what. It was just okay.

Rita's Sweet Holiday Baked Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2005
I give it a *** instead of * because I did improvise the first go round, so that may be why we didn't eat any... but I truly didn't change that much: Actually, didn't change the glaze at all, and that's what we didn't like.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2005
This is similar to a recipe I have, but with cream cheese, so I tried it: This recipe produced a drier, less dense version, and I couldn't taste the cream cheese at all. Anyone making this cake might try adding a small can of evaporated milk, cutting back to 5 eggs, , and substituting 1 stick (or 1/2 cup) butter flavored Crisco for one of the sticks (or 1/2 cup) butter. That's how this recipe deviated from the recipe I have (and, of course, the recipe I have doesn't have cream cheese). I won't make this one again.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: May 12, 2005
Added chopped onions to loaf, subtracted brown sugar from topping (I did this the first time I cooked it, based on personal tastes). AWESOME!

Chicken Parmigiana

Great starter recipe, though I tweaked it and LOVED the outcome: Added dried basil, dried oregano, dash of garlic powder and a dash of onion powder to the bread crumbs before coating chicken breasts. OMG! Sooooo good with the extra spices.

Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2005
I cut soup in half, baked in too large of a dish for 10 minutes too long and it still was gross and runny. Maybe I did something (else) wrong.

Donna's Cheesy Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2005
I don't like quiche. That said, I actually liked this quiche. I made it for my 8 year old, who likes quiche (and what a good protein meal for him), and I sampled it because it smelled better than any quiche I had tried before. I was really surprised. I sauteed the onions in a combination of butter and olive oil; left out the salt. I gave it 5 stars because any quiche I like has to be good:)

Chicken Danielle

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2006
I'd had this at a restaurant... and then they quit serving it :( When I decided to find a recipe to make it myself, I was so lucky to have tried this one first. OMG! It's so great and so versatile (I made with 2 cans sliced mushrooms, drained and white wine the first time b/c that's all I had and it was still awesome). Great with Garlic Green Beans

Eggnog I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2006
REALLY good eggnog... and I didn't appreciate the whole "not too thick like other eggnog" thing, until I made this: Now I realize how gross store bought eggnog can be.
