About this Cook
Musician, artist, writer, traveler. I can't go a day without cooking something from scratch and I don't use a microwave more than once a week. I love my family and my friends more than anything, and I credit all of my cooking knowledge to my wonderful mom. Aside from cooking, I spend my free time exercising, singing, reading books on psychology, watching old reruns of Friends, and stargazing.
My favorite things to cook
I stay as healthy as possible but do not EVER compromise flavor; food was meant to enjoy! I love to sautee, invent new soups and salads, and try recipes of every ethnicity I can discover and eventually adapt them into my own recipes. I love vegetables and tofu, I stay away from dairy, and, though I am not vegan, often end up making most of my food that way!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Barbecuing with the family; waking up early on Thanksgiving morning to put the turkey in the oven; my mom's famous Rice Pudding at Christmastime that beholds one special almond that, when discovered by one lucky rice pudding eater, awards that person a special prize.
My cooking triumphs
I made up my first Indian dish with no previous experience in the Indian cuisine, crossed my fingers, took a taste, and was pleasantly surprised with a delicious flavor. I also completely winged a wonton soup for guests (I got quite stressed out) and it ended up tasting better than our favorite restaurant's soup!
My cooking tragedies
When I was young, my aunt and I tried to make my mom her favorite milkshake on her birthday, but forgot the lid on the blender. We also couldn't get the thing to turn off. It was quite the mess.

Japanese Onion Soup
It was a little bland at first, so I added a tablespoon of Miso paste and a couple dashes of soy sauce. The final product was absolutely delicious! I also recommend boiling some homemade potstickers in there for the last 10 minutes. So yummy!

Best Lemonade Ever
This recipe tastes good even if you make it with store-bought lemon juice(I still recommend fresh), just add a 1/4 cup more lemon juice.
