About this Cook
Musician, artist, writer, traveler, and a HUGE foodie. Currently on my way to becoming a nutrition/health specialist. My husband & I especially love cooking, eating, adventuring, and playing ukulele together.
My favorite things to cook
Asian or Mediterranean anything. (Favorites are sushi, stir-fry, and salads.) Love cooking with fresh, whole foods. No pasta or bread in this house but rice & quinoa instead. Anything with vegetables, fruits, or fish are my and my husband's favorite. Love cooking & seasoning my dishes with coconut oil, fresh herbs, coarse sea salt, fresh ground pepper, and garlic. Guilty pleasure is some pan-fried Spam on top of sushi rice!
My favorite family cooking traditions
All our traditions revolve around food, but I especially love helping my husband make his famous Mochi. Every holiday is usually accompanied by a plethora of meats, vegetables, fruits, and endless dishes of both Asian & Italian cuisines. All the preparation by family that goes into gatherings is a wonderful time.
My cooking triumphs
When my husband and I had just gotten married, one afternoon we prepared a completely homemade dinner course consisting of wonton soup, spring rolls, cucumber salad, stir-fry and a platter of sushi. It was a joyous day for us and we repeated the courses for our families.
My cooking tragedies
Getting distracted by Netflix and allowing all of my precious heirloom vegetables to roast far past their prime and ending the night scraping little black chunks off my baking pan into the garbage. ALWAYS SET A TIMER AND SET IT LOUD.

Extreme Chocolate Cake
Delicious. Not so rich or overpowering that you can't bear more than a couple bites, but decadent enough that you finish your [second...or third] slice completely satisfied and delighted with your decision to indulge. Replaced vegetable oil with coconut oil (regular choice on my part). Though my taste buds were completely satisfied with the original recipe, I knew my decadent-dessert-loving husband would like even more money in this cake. So the second time I made it, right before I poured the batter in the pan I lightly swirled in some peanut butter, dark chocolate shavings, and brown sugar. Just enough to add a little extra boost of richness. The peanut butter swirls looked pretty before I iced it, too!

Japanese Onion Soup
It was a little bland at first, so I added a tablespoon of Miso paste and a couple dashes of soy sauce. The final product was absolutely delicious! I also recommend boiling some homemade potstickers in there for the last 10 minutes. So yummy!

Best Lemonade Ever
This recipe tastes good even if you make it with store-bought lemon juice(I still recommend fresh), just add a 1/4 cup more lemon juice.
