About this Cook
Being very busy, I don't always have time to cook. However, I have been inspired recently to pay more attention to what I put in my body and the best way to do that is to cook my own meals. I honestly find baking more relaxing but cooking is more necessary. Thus, I will be on this site more often!
My favorite things to cook
Inspired by my mother, I am trying very hard to make good bread. So far, I can make great white bread, but whole wheat is my downfall. But I enjoy the process, so bring on the bricks!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother and grandmother make the most delishious yeast rolls that usually only make appearances at Thanksgiving and Christmas. When we were young, we were given limits to how many we could have.
My cooking triumphs
I made my first batch of the family yeast rolls for an office Thanksgiving lunch. They turned out just like my mom's (the best compliment!).
My cooking tragedies
The first time I ever tried to brown ground beef, I was in someone else's kitchen and I used the wrong kind of pan. The meat scorched itself to the pan and I could never get it clean. It was very damaging to my teenage ego.

Sangria! Sangria!
This was FANTASTIC! I made it for a tapas dinner party and it went over famously. I followed the advice of others and used gingerale in place of the club soda. Very addictive! Makes for a good party! Thank you!!!

Glazed Nuts
I thought that the sweetness would come out more in this recipe. It had an interesting taste. One that made you want to eat more just to figure out if you liked it or not. I will not be making this again because I needed it for a Christmas party and these are not good enough to take to a party. I will look for more of a "sugared nuts" recipe.

Orange Cinnamon Sticks
This was a very easy and quick recipe. The orange flavor didn't come out as much as I had hoped. Probably would have if the orange juice or zest was mixed into the dough plus added in the topping. But that's the trade off when you use a prepared breadstick instead of making your own. Still, the fact that it was low fuss makes it one I will use again.
