Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2014
I make this whenever my family stays overnight. They absolutely love it and always ask me to make it. I found there is too much filling for one pie so I usually divide it and make two. The only thing I've changed, as many reviewers have, is using sliced fresh mushrooms instead of canned.

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2013
I followed the recipe as written. Even though my wife and family seemed to enjoy it, I found it a little bland. I will definitely make it again but maybe with a little garlic and a dash of cayenne for a little extra pizzaz.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
This is my recipe of choice for pancakes. I use to use buttermilk until I had house full of family stay overnight. They wanted pancakes for breakfast and no buttermilk. The vinegar and milk was a fantastic substitute. Thanks for the idea.

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2012
Oh my goodness, I love this dressing. Even after I finish the salad, I'm sopping up the remaining dressing with crusty bread. Love it, love it. Thanks Danielle.

Kielbasa Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2012
This is one of my families favorite recipes. I always have to make a double batch along with a big pot of mashed potatoes so they can sop up the juice. The only thing I changed was adding a slurry of corn starch to thicken the broth prior to adding the sour cream. So simple and easy.

Chicken Paprikash

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
Even though I personally did not enjoy this recipe, my family loved it, including my Polish mother-in-law. She said it reminded her of home. I found it rather bland but as long as my wife and mother-in-law liked it I will have to give it at least four stars.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2011
My family loved the sauce. I didn't change a thing other than using boneless chicken thighs rather than breasts. I find thighs more moist, tender and tastier than breasts. This will join my list of favorite recipes. Thank you Nancy

Easy French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
Loved this. It was so simple I don't why I never thought of it myself. I used beef broth with a sprinkling of Lipton onion soup mix and powdered garlic as the au jus, Sauted onion, green and red peppers and mushrooms. I put the bottom half back under the broiler for a few seconds until the cheese melted. I also spread a little Miracle Whip on the top half. Delicious. Rave reviews.

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
An excellent recipe that I have made for years. I have experimented from time to time and now use Dijon mustard rather than yellow. A little more zip. Also, as others have suggested, I sometimes add celery for a little extra crunch.

Spaghetti Sauce with Ground Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This is the exact recipe I've made for years except I always add a 1/4 teaspoon or so of cayenne pepper and a teaspoon of sugar. Sometimes I throw in a few dried pepper flakes if I want a little more zing. I also bag any leftovers and freeze it for quick meals.

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
I've always baked my bone-in ham and it has never occurred to me to slow cook it until I tried this recipe. I seldom use my slow cooker. Never again will I bake a ham. I took a couple of peoples advice and added pineapple juice along with the brown sugar and without doubt, it was the juiciest, most tender ham we've ever had. My family raved about it all through the meal. I didn't cook it as long as recommended (about 5 1/2 hours) and it turned out perfectly. Thank you LITTLEMSTXTHANG.

Traditional Osso Buco

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
I tried this recipe as written the first time and I have to admit it was very good, however when I mentioned it to a friend of Italian ancestry he suggested instead of butter, I brown the shanks in pancetta fat. I chopped up about a 1/4 lb. of pancetta, fried it, removed it from the pan, drained off all but about 2 tbls of the fat and browned the shanks. I removed the shanks and used the same fat to saute the onions, added the wine and deglazed the pan. I added the previously fried pancetta with the other ingredients. I know it's not as healthy but it was absolutely delicious. The one thing he told me was, do not subsitute bacon, it has to be pancetta.

Grandma's Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
I'm not much into vegetarian food however my stepson and his wife are, so I made this for them. I was surprised how good it was. I did spice it up a bit more and cooked it a little longer to soften the onions. I served it with a loaf of Italian bread to soak up some of the juices and they loved it.

Fabulous Foolproof Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Found this recipe easy and convenient for a busy day. I used fresh noodles as I find no boil hit and miss. A little more expensive but guaranteed to cook. Taking other suggestions, I added a layer of spinach. My wife is a lasagna connoisseur and she was quite surprised when I told her it was canned sauce, as I usually make my own from scratch which can be very time consuming. I'll definitely make this again.

Lorraine's Club Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2007
This is a basic club sandwich you'll find on the menus of most restaurants in Canada with the exception, it doesn't include cheese whether it be processed or swiss. I always add salt and pepper, in moderation, to the tomatoes. I also find Miracle Whip rather than mayonnaise adds a little more pizzazz.

Chicken Vegetable Potpie

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
Excellent. I made a few small changes, instead of water I used 1 cup of chicken broth. I also took another users advice and added a sprinkle of poultry seasoning. Instead of fresh carrots I used a 3/4 cup of frozen baby carrots cut up.

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2007
Very good. Took one reviewers advice and cut the chicken into pieces before cooking. The smaller pieces made it excellent over rice. I did have to thicken the sauce with a little cornstarch.

Followed the recipe exactly and it did crumble. Very good but I have other meatloaf recipes just as good if not better.
