Old Italian Meat Sauce

Very good. I made it just as the recipe indicated, I just backed down from the amount of wine called for ( per the reviews). I made it in the crockpot on low for several hours instead of the stovetop for convenience sake. It will be my standard meat sauce recipe now,

Calico Beans

Good overall, but overly sweet for our tastes... Even with the use of the recommendations to halve the brown sugar and use tomato sauce instead of ketchup. I found myself adding chilie powder to give it some other flavor but SWEET, but it was still just OK.

This was VERY good! I don't know what authentic soda bread tastes like, but this sure was good! There is no easier recipe for a good quickbread.

Very, very good! I made it just as the recipe described, except I added two or three tablespoons of flour (in a cup of water) at the end of the cooking time for thickening purposes. Wouldn't change a thing!

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake

Outstanding coffee cake. Took it too a church brunch, and was asked for the recipe. I added probably a third to a half cup more sour cream in the batter, as I hate a dry cake. Also, I probably doubled the brown sugar/pecan mixture. Baked it in a Bundt for 50 minutes at 325, and it was perfect!

Chicken Paprika

This is a winner! I kind of upped all of the spices in general, as we like more highly spiced dishes. Didn't make any other changes, though. Enjoy!

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Well, I'm a big crock pot fan, so I thought I would like this more. I have used this exact recipe with a pot roast, and everyone loves it here. I didn't care for the onion soup flavoring on turkey breast. Maybe that's just my opinion, however. Sure was easy!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

I thought this was a great salad, but the reviews of my guests were more mixed. Those who loved strawberries thought this was fantastic. Those who tolerate strawberries were much less impressed. Overall a winner if you know the tastes of your guests.

Black Bean and Corn Salad II

I'd give this one ten stars if I could! Made it for an Easter luncheon, and everyone raved. I found it to be simple to prepare (exactly as per the recipe), and fairly economical. The flavors blend nicely, and fairly dance on your tongue. Try this one!!!

Chocolate Chess Pie II

This was not the pie I was hoping for. The texture was a little grainy, and the chocolate taste was too overwhelming. I felt like it was too heavy, and just too darn sweet. Too bad...I'll keep looking...

Apple Pie I

Very good basic pie reicpe. I added some fresh lemon juice to keep the apples from browning (I also just like the way it contrasts with the sweetness), and added a bit more cinnamon than was called for, as I like a spicy apple pie.

Dutch Apple Pie with Oatmeal Streusel

This was good, but not perfect. I really liked the seasoning in the pie, as I like a lot of flavor. Some may find the allspice a little strong, however. I felt like the topping was a little "much," and it seemed to overwhelm the pie. When I make it again I will reduce all the topping ingredients (especially the sugar) so that the apples are better highlighted.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

My family liked this recipe OK, but they all said they prefer it the way I have always made it before. All I usually do is place the roast in the slow cooker (without adding any water), then sprinkle a package of dry onion soup mix over it. Pop the lid on and let it cook till it falls apart. You might try it both ways and see which way your family prefers. Both recipes are easy, and really, you can't loose either way.
