Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
The flavour is very good but it took much longer to bake - just as the other reviewer pointed out. Had to turn out onto a cooling rack and put back into the oven on top a sheet pan and bake at 350 for another half hour!!!

Tzatziki Sauce I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
Add about half a shredded English cucumber and it's PERFECTION. I drained my yogurt for two days in the fridge and followed all the measurements to the "T" and it was absolutely fab! Great job!

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
Yummy! "Brown butter". My new favorite flavour! This was really nice and bf who doesn't like parmasan said it was good in this dish! I think some toasted almonds would be really nice to try added to it.

Spring Asparagus Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
Very light but very nice. Asparagus was tender, but not "cooked". The dressing is great. Will probably use on a cucumber and tomato salad tomorrow. I put diced red pepper in with the asparagus as it seemed to need more colour. Thanks for a great recipe! I'll bet there is more that can be done with this starting as a base but it's really nice as it is!

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
This was awesome! Was one of those that people just couldn't stop eating!! But I found another use for the recipe! I had made two batches. One batch I added everything except the tomatoes (I too sub'd lime juice for the dressing) and froze it for another time. Well one day I was making seven layer dip and realized I didn't have refried beans. So I defrosted that batch I had frozen earlier and used it instead! Was fabulous! A nice change in flavour and texture! Now I'm wondering what other recipes that call for refried beans I could sub with this recipe!

Greek Style Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
Fabulous! Exactly the Greek potato recipe I have been looking for. Tasted just like the ones in fine Greek restaurants. Honey definitely wants these as a regular. Thanks!!!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
Honey thinks chocolate and coffee should be a 'food group' so I halved the cocoa powder and added instant coffee granules. Well he's on cloud 9 and also staying up rather late these days! Thanks for a really great recipe!!!

Clemons Family Bean Dip

This was gobbled up by my family! Everyone loved it. I know I'll be asked to bring this to our next dinner together! Made just as the recipe directed.

Ham with Maple Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Yum, Yum, Sue Ward!!! The syrup was a nice change from brown sugar as it was lighter and delish! The gravy was great. The timing was right on. I'm not a big fan of baked apples so I didn't make that, but instead served au gratin potatos from this site and steamed french green beans with toasted slivered almonds. It was a gray day today so wanted a nice comforting meal and this was the one!!! Honey is a huge ham lover and will be more than happy to have this made as his dinner often! Thanks for the post!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
Yum yum! Too much salt I think, but cutting down on that is all that you need to do! I added some layered zuccini and eggplant and an extra third package of pasta to mine. Used a slow cooker for the sauce (about 4-5 hours on low). Makes a firmer lasagne than others which I prefer. Can't have too much pasta or mozza for me!

Amish Meatloaf

hmmm...mushy and not much flavour. I'll keep looking for a "firmer" loaf and more spices

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
This was fabulous! I added a tsp each of garlic powder, oregano and basil to the dough and baked it about 10 mins before adding the toppings. Smelled so good could have just kept baking it and eaten it as it was! The only thing was I added almost another cup of flour as was very sticky and then I guess I kneaded it too much as was very springy and wouldn't stay put on the sheet pan; kept springing back to the centre. Finally convinced it to stay stretched out in the end tho. Will definitely be making pizza and bread sticks and whatever else I can think up with this! Thanks Jay!!

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2007
These were "ok", not great. I skewered the meat separately from the mushrooms and pineapple as I felt the cooking times would be different. The bacon burned even without the grill being very hot and I didn't think there was enough flavour. Probably something I did wrong? Won't be making these again unless I think of a way to zip up the flavours and maybe cook in an oven instead.

Pork Chops to Live For

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
I have made this for years. I'm only giving this version 4 stars as the two cups of milk makes it too runny. Leave the milk out altogether as the juices from the meat combine with the soup to make a nice sauce. Don't bother with the egg and flour. Instead sprinkle with seasoned salt and garlic powder and sear in a hot pan on both sides until brown. Place in a greased casserole dish, cover and bake with the condensed soup for an hour and a half at 325 - 350 degrees. The longer the better as the meat tenderizes with a long, slow bake.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2007
I've made this twice now. Once with the nuts and chips and once with raisins and chips. I found it too moist with three bananas (I halved the recipe). I will try with two next time as the ends were getting too brown to keep baking. Also added nuts/raisins and chips to the dry ingredients before combining with the wet and nuts, chips and raisins were evenly dispersed throughout

Tomato-Topped Sole

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
Very nice. My B/F suggested we have sole and not being a big fan of seafood I was pretty skeptical. This was great and easy to make. I served it with rice and steamed asparagus with a lemon/butter sauce. A nice light meal.

Toasted Party Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
Followed the recipe seasonings to a T and it was perfect. Added 10 cups total of cereal and snacks but changed amounts to suit our tastes. Wasn't greasy once cooled and freezes well for a nice treat when friends pop in or just when you need a good snack! Didn't find it too salty at all! Thank-you for the submit! Will definately make again and maybe try different ingredients like Asian rice crackers etc.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
Easy this certainly was. But I didn't find anything special about it. I rolled it in sliced almonds. Was ok, but needs more to it to make it worth making again. Maybe a stronger cheese like blue cheese or feta? (I guess I just prefer stronger flavours) Other reviewers are quite correct about leaving it overnight in the fridge before serving as it is very salty at first.

Pumpkin Roll I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
This was really nice. My BF doesn't like cream cheese so I used whipped cream instead. Was messy because of the cream, but tasted really nice. Very moist and for someone who isn't a "baker", it was really easy to make! Thank-you for an alternative to pumpkin pie!
