About this Cook
I come from a family with a long food-linked tradition, right up to my great grandmother's deli in Copenhagen. I like coking just about anything, but my real favorite is banana bread - everyone loves it, and makes the house smell so nice!
My favorite things to cook
Just about any kind of dinner or desert, anything where lots of people come together to enjoy good food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
That has to be my grandfather's traditional Danish Christmas dinner -roast goose, roast duck, caramelized potatoes, homemade red cabbage, and heavenly rice and almond pudding for desert.
My cooking triumphs
I made Thanksgiving dinner for 12 people one year, and everything turned out wonderfully, especially the pumpkin pie.
My cooking tragedies
I left a pan of melting butter on the stove, completely forgot about it, and set off the fire alarm at my grandfather's restaurant. Was I ever embarrassed when the fire department showed up!

Sweet Potato Minestrone
This soup has quickly become one of my all time favorites, mostly because it can be varied in so many ways. If I have an abundance of zucchini - into the soup pot, no carrots - I add more sweet potato. The spices can varied according to season as well, and you can make huge quantities very easily.

Nectarine Pie
I love making this pie because it's quite easy, but out of the ordinary enough to get rave reviews and tons of praise. I still haven't served to anyone who didn't rate it highly. I usually add a little more cinnamon and sometimes other sweet spices if I have them at hand.
