Salmon and Potato Pie

This was the first savoury pie I've ever made and I really liked it! I made it with a doubled No Roll Pie Crust from here. I used 5 potatoes instead of six, added two thinly sliced leeks, and a shredded carrot and zuchinni. It seemed to take a while (approx. 2 hrs.) but I'm sure that was because I was making pie crust for the first time and got a little OC when I was picking the bones out of the salmon. I added the milk to the juice from the salmon to get to a cup. I'm sure once I get the hang of making the easy, easy piecrust I can cut the time down. Thank-you Mackenzie for a lovely, comforting recipe!

Oven Pancakes

This was fun to make and really easy. I think a touch of salt added to the batter would be just the thing to bring out all the flavour and make it 5 stars. After blending up the batter and putting it in the pre-heated pan, I blended up some wild blueberries with maple syrup and a bit of sugar, and then warmed that up for a sauce.

Fry Sauce

I did not know that this is something people use as a french fry dipping sauce in Utah! At most restaurants my partner and I went to in Peru this is what was served with anything that was fried. It was always served with french fries and breaded calamari in the coastal restaurants we ate at. It's also really good mixed with a little lime juice.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

This bread is wonderful! I had to sneak a slice before the loaves had finished cooling. It was still fluffy, yet dense, with a nice flavour. I didn't have any bread flour, or gluten, so I upped the yeast and it still turned out great. This was my first time baking a yeast bread - reading the other glowing reviews gave me the courage to try it. I followed the recipe as given, using all-purpose flour throughout, and added a cup of bran. Fabulous!
