Dinner Cheat - House Curry Sauce Mix

I really try to make it a point to cook using fresh ingredients and/or from scratch, but since I don't know the first thing about making curry, I cheated.

My friends took me to this restaurant here in So Cal (Puente Hills to be specific) that is a Japanese Curry spot.   I really fell in love with their curry.  I had chicken curry with  brown rice and onion ring on the side.  Yah, this restaurant is a little different from your typical curry house, they are a Japanese curry and spaghetti restaurant.  I didn't have enough room in my tummy for spaghetti, and I was on a curry mission.

I noticed on their menu that they have a store where they sell their famous curry sauce mix you can prepare at home...two doors down from the restaurant.  Score!!  I ran into the store for this curry mix and some Pocky for the kids.  (Pocky is a light biscuit stick coated in chocolate at one end)  The curry mix is totally easy to make.  Sautee your pieses of chicken, onion, carrot, and potato, prepare the sauce and you have a Curry House meal.  oh, and don't forget the rice.  And if you have some onion ring handy, that's good too.

If you're in the SoCal area, try this restaurant.  you can even order their store items on the internet.

About Me
Born in Mexico...raised a California girl, I'm always trying to find my roots with my cooking. I have a big family with my mom as matriarch and master cook. So I have some big shoes to fill.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking food that my mom always made when we were younger. She doesn't really have any recipes, so it's a challenge. Every time she cooks, it's a unique experience since variations on ingredients are never the same. I also love Mexican food El Paso style. I would like to dabble more in Italian and Filipino dishes. My all time fav is BBQ and down home Southern comfort food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a Mexican Family. Family gatherings center around the kitchen and dinning areas. I love having family around the kitchen cooking, sitting around the dinner table talking, laughing, joking, drinking and eating.
My cooking triumphs
Mastered flour tortillas in 2013!!!
My cooking tragedies
That I mastered flour tortillas in 2013...I think I gained 5 lbs in one week.
