I love to cook, but sometimes, as with most things, with cooking it’s a matter of how I feel.. how I feel about myself, stuff going on around me, if I have to clean my fridge…etc. For the most part, I love cooking because it brings our family closer and I love to make people happy through food.  But, once in a great while, when the kids are away at Nana’s, the hubby is away on military duty, and it’s just me and the dogs…Mama don’t feel like cookin!!  I probably wouldn’t eat if I didn’t have a family to feed.  I could live off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and popcorn. (which I actually did this last weekend).

I try to be a super mom, but yes, even wannabe super heroes need a break.  Motivation even.  So this is why I do to motivate myself from the weekend off from my wonderful family and to get a new lease on life at home…

1) Glam it up – do something nice for myself, because I deserve it, and nothing motivates me more than a trip to the salon - haircut or a spa mani/pedi…or both.  Voila! I’m a new woman…a woman who is ready to take on the world (or at least take on cleaning out my fridge).

2)  Make a list!  - I make a list of all the things I want to accomplish, and the amount of time it will take to do each task.  This way I can break down my 3 day weekend and I’m not overdoing it.

3) Enjoy my just rewards – I get to sit in my fresh clean house, treat myself to frozen yogurt, kick up my pretty feet, read a book…and wait for the tornado of people to walk through my door.

I’m anew and inspired to create dishes and memories with my loved ones.

This is a confession of a working mom!! – Thanks for stopping by

I could really enjoy a trip to a spa. I would enjoy even more a day off, I know it may sound bad, but just me for a day with no kids and no husband.

I love the way you think! I don't have a full time job anymore but I used some of those same ideas when I did. There's just something about seeing how much you've accomplished on paper and then having a reward for it.

About Me
Born in Mexico...raised a California girl, I'm always trying to find my roots with my cooking. I have a big family with my mom as matriarch and master cook. So I have some big shoes to fill.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking food that my mom always made when we were younger. She doesn't really have any recipes, so it's a challenge. Every time she cooks, it's a unique experience since variations on ingredients are never the same. I also love Mexican food El Paso style. I would like to dabble more in Italian and Filipino dishes. My all time fav is BBQ and down home Southern comfort food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a Mexican Family. Family gatherings center around the kitchen and dinning areas. I love having family around the kitchen cooking, sitting around the dinner table talking, laughing, joking, drinking and eating.
My cooking triumphs
Mastered flour tortillas in 2013!!!
My cooking tragedies
That I mastered flour tortillas in 2013...I think I gained 5 lbs in one week.
