To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2014
Amazing!! This is my new go-to recipe. They look as delicious as they taste. Crispy and sugary on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Follow the recipe exactly and they'll turn out wonderful. I did try a batch using brown sugar in the crumb topping instead of white sugar as was suggested by a few reviewers, but I definitely prefer it with white as stated in the original recipe. The brown was too over-bearing and took away from the muffins themselves. Either way I had quite a bit of topping left over and that was with covering them generously, but otherwise everything was perfect. Thanks Colleen - got a new favorite blueberry muffin recipe!

Homestyle Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
This is very much a base recipe. I like a hearty stew and this was kind of minimal as it was. I added more veggies (celery ,onion & turnip) a clove of crushed garlic and a bit of rosemary. The broth/water mixture at the start needs to be doubled. Also add a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch to a bit of cold water in a small bowl to make a paste and then add it to the broth/water mixture prior to boiling in order to thicken it. It needs playing around with but it can be tweaked.

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
This smelled fantastic while it was cooking but I found the herbs to be a bit overpowering after tasting it. It may have also been the brand of bouillon used. I followed the recipe pretty much spot on. I wouldn't completely write it off as it might just need tweaking to suit individual taste, but I probably would not make it again.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
This turned out wonderful. I didn't change it much, other than increasing the amount of flour from 2 Tbsp to 3 Tbsp and adding a half a Tbsp of cornstarch to ensure proper thickness as based on other reviews. I also sprinkled a bit of extra cinnamon into the crumb topping and was glad I did. Would make again. Thanks Jackie!

Best Chicken Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2013
Lots of crunch to this chicken. It's a tad on the messy side to make but tastes great. I followed it exactly as is. I would add a bit more herbs and spices next time so it's not too bland, but it's a great base recipe to play around with. Makes a nice change if you're tired of same old shake'n bake. A new go-to recipe for me. Thanx!!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
Yummy! Just the smell of the uncooked dough alone is enough to give this 5 stars. Makes the kitchen smell wonderful while baking. I didn't change a thing and they were fantastic. They are a chewy gooey cookie and bake quite large. Husband approved!
