About this Cook
Now that I am retired, I love to cook. I decide on what's for dinner by what I have in then freezer. Then I start looking for a new recipe. I use Allrecipes most of the time, unless it is an old staple. My husband loves everything I make so I do not hesitate to experiment. Love to have company, which happens a lot.
My favorite things to cook
I love shrimp linguini from this site. I cook a lot of chicken since it is healthier than some other choices. I always like chef John, so I check out those recipes if they pop up. My favorites are always in the future.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Eve is always Stromboli and Tijuana pie and Hawaiian Chicken along with luminaries along the street and opening one gift before we hang the stockings.
My cooking triumphs
Finally made a great pie crust and apple pie.crust from this site. And blueberry pie! I have people telling me I am a great cook but feel more like a work in progress. Chef john's turkey was the best turkey I ever made. Maybe it can happen again or maybe not.
My cooking tragedies
I still can't reliably cook chicken boneless breast that is not tough, unless I pound it before cooking. I keep trying but have yet to feel confident from one attempt to the next.

Old Time Chicken Divan
So much better than using canned soup. I used a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket and this was delicious. We all over it. Made it several hours ahead and just finished before eating. Will definitely do again

Seafood Linguine
After reading the reviews I made some changes. I sautéed garlic and veggie in olive oil. I made the white sauce in a separate pan. Added my frozen seafood to the white sauce to cook. Added basil, celery salt, parsley, pinch of cayenne, and s&p. Spooned sauce over the pasta added parmasea. It was a yum. Thanks to all for their input and to Skehler What a great team we make.
