Buckeyes I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
In order for the chocolate to "stick" you must ADD 2T melted crisco and make sure the peanut butter balls are very cold. I used Milk Chocolate Chips or the Milk Chocolate candy disks from the candy store. Add the 2T of melted Crisco to the chocolate before melting.

French Toast II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
This is a great tasting recipe. We used italian bread. Leave the crust on. Let it soak for a few minutes, until it absorbs the batter. Then place in a 9x13 dish and bake in the oven. So easy to make. Thank you for sharing!

Cocoa Quickies

These were OK. They're better if you add 3/4 C Jiff Peanut Butter, then boil for 1 minute.

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2008
This is a good tasting recipe, but a few things need changing. The margarine & brown sugar should be melted before adding to the crushed pretzels, otherwise the crust doesn't hold. The cream cheese layer needs to be chilled at least 45 minutes(until cold& firm) before adding the next layer or they will mix together. Also,if you're going to make this in a 9x13 pan,as this calls for, then you'll need 2 1/2 cups of crushed pretzels, double the cream cheese and strawberry layers,if you want it to look like the layers in the photo. If not your layers will be thin.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
I gave this recipe a 4 because I changed a few things. I baked the bottom crust on 350, for 10 minutes, by itself. Then in a bowl,I combined 1/2 C.white sugar,1/4 C brown sugar, 4 T.Cinnamon. I tossed the apples in this mixture, making sure all of the apples were coated well. Place in baking dish. Then I melted 1/2 C butter and then added 2t.lemon juice together. Drizzle over apple mixture. Then add crumb topping, which I doubled. I baked in a 9x13 baking dish. I always receive raves reviews. Thank you

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Very Good Rectpe. I used Milk Chocolate, instead. Also, a tip on melting the chocolate. If you don't have a double boiler, use 2 saucepans. Put about a cup of water into the bottom pan,put on medium heat on stove, then put the chocolate into the other pan.Place the pan with the chocolate on top of the pan holding the water. Slowing stir with a wood spoon. If using solid chocolate, break apart in bigger pieces before adding to pan. This will help melt faster. I prefer this method over the microwave, because a microwave has hot spots, a lot of times when using to melt chocolate,it was cause the chocolate to crust in places.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Excellent recipe.I really don't gove 5 stars unless it warrants. I'll bet those who say,"I don't like Sweet Potatoes" Will change their tune after just a bite of this. I did BAKE the potatoes in the OVEN. This brings out the syrup, therefore much more flavor! Please no canned yams.I know using canned may seem to cut time, but you're also cutting your flavor in half by using them.

This is a good receipe. I only changed a couple of things. I used (2) large cans of Sweet Potatoes,no one noticed. THey were actually surprised when I told them. I also chopped the pecans, instead of leaving them whole on top.

Chicken Salad Spread

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
I did not care for the addedd pickles at all. I made this again, but omitted the pickles, and added 1 T Dill. I also used REAL Mayo, 2 finely chopped green onion, shredded the chicken, mixed together with spoon ,then I added Lawry's to taste. It's better if you let this set overnight in the fridge or at least 4 hours,so that it's not only cold, but well blended. Great for sandwiches,on trisket,or such crackers,or on celery. Could be used many ways.

Old Fashioned Ozarks Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
This is basically the same recipe Mom used when I was growing up,with a couple of changes. Mix chopped onion in with the Hamburger and sausage. You can also use the Lipton dried onion in the box. I used the Onion and Mushroom for added flavor. Add 1/4 C Ketchup and mix in 2 eggs. Add dried bread crumbs until your meat mixture starts to hold form. After you place in baking dish, take 1/3 cup ketchup and mix in 4 or 5 T of Brown Sugar. If you don't have brown, use White. Pour over top of Meatloaf and bake. I put foil over top until the last 15 minutes of baking. Believe me it is NOT too much ketchup.

Jen's Fresh and Spicy Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2007
This recipe was quick and easy. I changed a couple of things. First, the tomatoes need to be drained of their liquid,or the Salsa will be watery. Second, unless you like HOT,and I do mean HOT Salsa, you will need to take the seeds out of your jalapeno pepper. Please use plastic gloves,or if no gloves you can use baggies over your hands, before you remove the seeds. You do not want to cut into this pepper without your hands protected as the juice WILL get into your skin and BURN whatever skin it comes into contact with. Also, I used Uncle Franks Hot Sauce. It is the best. Thanks for sharing,Jen.

Adrienne's Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
This recipe was OK. Really this recipe comes down to a couple of things. The amount of cucumbers that you use and your taste. For those who like a little bite, you'll have to use more vinegar, for those who don't,use more sugar. I actually had to double both. I found that if you add the DILL into the water, vinegar, sugar mixture when on the stove, it has a better taste and mixes better. Also, adding salt and pepper to the cucumbers and onions BEFORE the mixture is a MUST. That small change makes a world of difference to the taste.

Saucy Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: May 23, 2007
FINALLY, Someone who knows how to make Stuffed Peppers! That is right. You do NOT cook the meat mixture before adding it to the peppers to bake. It WILL bake fully in the oven. If you cook the meat before you will lose all the needed flavor! You do cook the rice, then chopped onion, Italian Seasoning, a little garlic and pepper. Mix this all together with the meat add to peppers. I would have given this 5* but you do not have Tomato Soup. If you use this instead of the Juice,it has much more flavor.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: May 23, 2007
The only reason I gave this 4 * is because I changed and added a couple of things. This is a good recipe for those who have never made stuffed peppers before. It's quick and easy. I mixed Sausage and Hamburger together to give the mixture some taste. I added chopped onion, seasoning salt,Italian Seasoning into the meat mixture. Do not cook the meat before adding it into the Peppers. It will be cooked well in the oven. This will prevent you from losing a lot of needed flavor that you lose when cooking the meat first. Also, make sure that you use the Tomato Soup. It does give it the needed flavoring. Thanks for sharing Joe

Party Spinach Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
I'm sorry. This was really bland. This is how I make my Spinich Dip. I use the Knorr's Dry Vegtable Soup, with 1 cup of (NOTE**) REAL MAYO, 1/2 Sour Cream, 3 Green Onions chopped include part of the green as well, NOTE**(Make Sure You Wash and Clean the onions WELL before you add them to your mix. ) 1 10oz package of Frozen Chopped Spinich, Thawed and well drained. Also, you can add Water Chestnuts. Add all together and let it chill at least 4 hours. It's better if overnight. We use this with Pumpernickle or Dark RYE Bread, Also Trisket Crackers as good. There are many types of crackers this would be good with! Enjoy :)

The Best Unbaked Cherry Cheesecake Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
This is really good base. I liked it because it is so easy to make and it doesn't need baked. I changed a couple of things. The butter really needs to be melted and mixed together with the suger before adding to the graham crackers,or it will not hold together for the crust. The Cream Cheese MUST be soften. Just leave it sit out for about 20 minutes, then while still in the inside package, lightly knead with your fingers. I added 1 -2 T of Lemon Juice to the filling so it tasted more like a real Cheesecake. Thank you for sharing.

I DID NOT COOK THE MACARONI AHEAD EITHER, ,I CHOSE NOT TO USE THE EGGS IN THIS EITHER AND I CANNOT SEE WHERE IT WAS MISSEDI. I USED 1/2 CHEDDAR AND 1/2 VELVEETA CHEESE, I MELTED IT IN THE EVAPOTAED MILK, THEN POURED OVER THE MACARONI. TURNED OUT GREAT. IT STAYED NICE AND CREAMY AND DIDN'T DRY OUT. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MAY NOT BE THE CASE OF YOU USE ALL CHEDDAR CHEESE.

Banana Split Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
This is a really good recipe. I only added a couple/changed things. I added Strawberry, Pineapple Ice Cream Topping over the Banana layer. I also added Cream Marshmellow in the jar, NOT the Kraft. This is over in the Ice Cream Topping section in the stores. It is made thinner than the other. I also froze my Banana Split Cake. It does not freeze solid and it is SOOO good this way. I received SO many compliments on this.
