My husband and I really enjoyed this. Good flavor, and an easy recipe.

Easy Chicken in Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2004
My entire family enjoyed this! SBD has been challenging at times, with four small children, so this was a nice meal. I used the boneless skinless thighs for the kids, and breasts for my DH and I. I also marinated the chicken overnight in the white wine (use real wine, not the stuff labeled cooking wine!! - cheap wine is better than that stuff), garlic and pepper. I grilled it, then added the marinade back in, and I really liked the flavor, as did my DH. I served this with wild rice, and it was really good.

Mocha Ricotta Creme

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2004
WOW! I started the SBD almost two weeks ago, and one thing I cut out was my once a week stop at Starbucks. This yummy treat reminds me of a frappaccino! I couldn't find the expresso powder at my local grocer, so I used instant decalf coffee. Also, I didn't have cocoa powder on hand, so I used 3/4 tsp of chocolate extract. This is definately my new SBD favorite dessert.

Chocolate Strawberry Banana Milkshake

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2004
This is fairly simple to change to a low carb, low sugar drink. I substituted non-fat half and half for the milk, and splenda for the table sugar. I used 1 packet of splenda, since I find it to be very sweet. I also used baking cocoa, rather thank chocolate drink mix, and it was yummy. You do have to blend this very well with these changes, but if you're on a low carb, low sugar diet, this is fabulous.

Vanilla Milkshake II

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2004
This was DELICOUS! I used Vanilla Bean ice cream, as it's my families favorite, and I had it on hand. I agree, the half and half really gives this a creamy, smooth texture. I have four kids, six and under, and the three oldest did not have an issue with the vanilla extract. We will definately be making this again.

Cucumber Sandwiches II

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2004
Two hours before my friends baby shower, the hostess calls and asks if I can bring something, as someone else had to back out. These were fast, and everyone loved them! I couldn't find the cocktail rounds (and I was in a hurry!), so I used dill rye, quartered. The dill accent was just wonderful! I doubled the recipe, but could have trippled it, these went over so well. Looking forward to serving these at my next get together!

Try another one. This one just did not have the creamy flavor I was looking for.

Beef and Bean Chimichangas

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2004
These were delicous! The only change I will make, is to used shredded beef the next time I make them, simply because my husband would prefer it, and I think it would taste delious too. Even my kids gobbled these down!

Shrimp and Crab Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2004
This was OK. Didn't have enough flavor for my taste, despite the fact I used the same green enchilada sauce I use for traditional style enchiladas. My husband loved them though.

Bread Machine Calzone

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2004
This was yummy! Everyone gobbled it up, and it was a hit with the kids. My store was out of pizza sauce, so I used spaghetti sauce instead (Prego) and the flavor was still really nice. I added 1 clove of crushed garlic to the bread machine for a little more flavor, and will definately do so again when I make it next. It really only added a hint of garlic to the bread, but it was tasty.

Carnation® New England Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2004
This was OK. The flavor was alright, but it seemed to be missing something. I did add clam juice, which helped. My husband really liked it though, so I'll probably make it again, and try to find out what's missing.

Italian Chicken with Garlic and Lemon

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2004
This was wonderful! Quick and easy, tasty, and a hit with the whole family. I did follow the advice to season my potatoes while frying them. For appearance sake, I will also brown my chicken a little first too, so it doesn't have that white color. The coloring has no effect on the flavor though! My husband couldn't wait to take these for leftovers the next day.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2004
I've tried many garlic mashed potatoe recipes, and none had that smooth, creamy flavor, until I tried these. WONDERFUL!! This recipe was easy, tasted delicous, and was a wonderful compliment to the fried chicken (from this site too) I made.

Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2004
The first time I made these, I was sure I must have done something wrong. The consistancy was off, and the flavor was rather bland. They didn't taste bad, but they just didn't seem like biscuits to me or my family.

Southwestern Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2004
This was fabulous!! What a great way to use the leftover turkey and turkey carcas from holidays. I made a few minor changes. I used fresh cilantro instead of dried, as we love cilantro in my house. I also added 3 avacados, rather that one. I did not add the plum tomatoes, and chopped up the whole tomatoes. I served this with fresh tortilla chips. I'm going to try it with chicken next, as this is a recipe we'll want to eat again.

Famous Restaurant Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2004
This was absolutely wonderful!! My super picky 4 yr old loved it, and so it's a keeper. I made sure to use the double broiler, and was able to melt the cream cheese all the way - that was the key to keep it from getting lumpy. I used milk insead of half and half, and the consistancy was good. To get the flavor, you need to add the galric and lemon pepper to YOUR taste. Just keep adding a dash until the flavor suits you. I also added 3 TBS of fresh grated parmesan cheese, and my DH and I thought it added a lot. This will be someting we make consistantly!
