Yakisoba Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2004
My whole family loved this! I did add a little less chili paste, as I'm familiar with it, and I know my small children won't eat it that spicy, but this was delicous. I also used fresh soba noodles from the refrigerated section of my grocery store, Yummy.

Mushroom and Leek Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2004
This was OK. The flavor was fine, it went together easy, and it looked pretty in a soup turine, but I thought it was lacking something. If I was having a dinner party, and serving in courses (which I do a few times a year) this would make a nice first course, since it's light and tasty. But it wasn't a good choice for a main meal.

Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2004
I'm rating this, based on the recipe as it's written. It's awful, lol. However, it is 100% salvagable. Definately substitute the water with beef broth (I did two cans of vegetable broth and two beef) I added an additional cup of merlot, 3 bay leaves, and some thyme. Rather than simmer in the oven, I transfered the meat to the crockpot after had browned it. Also, I added some fresh minced garlic to the meat while is was browing, and it was great. By cooking in the crockpot, I found that by the time I added the potatoes and let them cook for a good hour or so, the starch from them thickened up the stew just right. I added salt and pepper to taste, and a little more garlic the last 30 minutes or so, and it was really good. But this definately needed some doctoring up!

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
My family loved this! These were so moist and chewy, and the flavor was really good. I did substitute frozen blueberries for fresh, because they were easier and less expensive to get, but they turned out great! A real treat for my kids before school, and my husband before he heads off to work at zero dark thirty (military expression, lol)

Pork Chops with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
This was wonderful! I did double the sauce because I have a gravy loving family, and we served this seasoned potatoes, since I do not have pasta lovers. But the sausage and the chicken was yummy, and the seasoning was great just as it was listed. Can't wait to make this again

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2004
This was wonderful!! I doubled it, to accomodate a large gathering, and not one bite was left! I was short on the beef broth, so I added some vegetable broth, but that was the only subsitution. I can't wait to make this again!

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2004
I host a SAHM's coffee group once a week. I made this for our snack, and it was a huge hit! I used low fat sour cream, and this was moist and delicous.

Orange Pull Aparts

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2004
This was delicous! I have a group of SAHM who come over once a week for coffee and a pastry for breakfast. This was an instant hit (note, I made these the night before, because they do take some time) I store them in a empty coffee can, lined with tin foil (my grandmother's trick) and they were soft and fresh the next morning. I plan to make up several of these, and freeze them for the coming holiday season.

B.L.T. Salad with Basil Mayo Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2004
my husband raved about this! even took the leftovers for work the next day, and he's not normally a salad type of guy for lunch. The kids ate it too, and really enjoyed the crutons. I thought the dressing was only OK, but everyone else seemed to really like it.

Dill and Shrimp Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2004
I would only give this a four star rating (it was good, but just not that good) but my DH and kids really liked it, anything that passes the test for all three kids and the DH, deserves 5 stars

Taco Salad I

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2004
This was a quick and delicous meal! Start to seated at the table took no more than 30 minutes (OK, DH shredded my cheese and chopped the tomatoes, lol, so it might be a tad longer than that) My kids just LOVED this. DH was sceptical when he saw me dump in the entire bottle of Ken's Country French (neither of us are French dressing fans) but this was really good, and the entire family went back for seconds. Definately a good meal!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2004
This is delicous!! So much healthier than the store bought stuff, and I was able to make it a little spicier for DH and I, while keeping it mild for the kids. A definate plus! I used this in place of the packaged taco seasoning in a taco salad listed on this site (Taco Salad I) and it was great in that too.

Amazing Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2004
This is the best whole wheat crust I've made to date. I went ahead and put it in my bread machine, on the dough cycle. Turned out really nice. I used this recipe for the crust on the BBQ Chicken Pizza, and it was really yummy. This crust came out a little thicker than pizza bought at the store, but we thought it was really filling that way, and it wasn't too doughy or super thick, just right for us.

Toll House® Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2004
This was good. I made it for a morning coffee group with my SAHM's, and everyone really liked them. I did substitute slightly. I used canola oil in place of margarin (since it had to be melted anyway) and I added 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract. I just couldn't imagine these without the vanilla. The consistance seemed odd in the bowl, but they turned out good. I thought a muffin should be a little sweeter, but everyone said they were great, and not one was left.

Beer and Brown Sugar Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2004
WOW! I read the reviews, and made it soley based on that, not really expecting to like it. I'm not a soda person, couldn't imagine this really tasting that great. Was I ever wrong! I used Pepsi instead (not a Coke family, lol) and everyone ate it up. My four year old is not usually a meat kid, and he loved this. Big praise for him!

Savory Shrimp over Wild Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2004
My husband, not a big seafood person, but who will tolerate shrimp, LOVED this. I ended up using jumbo shrimp, because they were on sale. But the flavor was great, and I can't wait to make this again.

Bahama-Mama Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2004
My husband and kids loved this, and I only liked it. Part of the problem, I think, is that I used a chili sauce that ended up tasting more like ketchup. I have a chinese chili sauce, that's got some kick, which I will substitute next time. It was just a little too sweet for me. But my kids really enjoyed it, and it came out moist and tender

Cornish Game Hens Ricardo

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2004
I changed a few things on this. I marinated the hens overnight, and then rotissery grilled them (not cutting them in half) I basted the marinade on the hens while they were cooking. The flavor was incredible, and they came out moist and juicy.
