Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2005
These were real yummy. A good crispy onion ring. Left overs are excellent re-heated due to the crisp factor. I did add some garlic powder to the flour mixture and soaked the onions rings in water (this process of soaking takes the strong oniony flavor out of onions if that's what you prefer. The water coating also helped the flour mixture to adhere better). The only problem I had with this recipe was that after you coat the onion rings with flour mixture, it doesn't realy specify how much you flour mixture you are left with. I had to make more flour mixture in order to have enough when adding egg mixture (maybe this was the case due to my decision to soak in water. Overall these were realy GREAT and I'll def. make it again. Thanks Jeanharmon:)

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This is a very nice apple crisp. A classic. Have made it 2X in the past couple of weeks. The first time I followed it to a T, the second time a added a bit of lemon juice. Next time, I will add the lemon juice but less than what I originally added. The lemon juice is a "sometimey" addition, as it depends on the type of apples used. If using sour type of apples, such as granny-smith, lemon juice won't be necessary, otherwise I like "just a hint" of zip. Loved it and so did everyone else in my house.

Quick and Easy Sauteed Spinach

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I love this type of recipe. Not only does it taste good but if you eat lots you don't feel guilty because it is good for you. I used frozen spinach becasue that's what I had on hand but I know that fresh spinach would make this recipe 100 times better (especially baby spinach). I also used fresh garlic instead of the powdered garlic salt and I used kosher salt. I will definately make this recipe again.

Emily's Famous Tiramisu

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
This recipe is truly Devine. If you are a tiramisu lover, this is the one. I was asked to make a tiramisu for an Italian themed dinner party. I loke tiramisu, but it normally isn't one of my favorit deserts. This tiramisu is definately on my list of favorites now. Making your own lady fingers is well worth it. I didn't use all of the rum as called for in the cream, but instead used a little bit of the rum and added a bit of rum extract. It was perfectly well balanced in flavor. Next time I make it though I will make extra of the lady fingers. They weren't enough of them to circle around the timamisu all the way. Thx. Emily

Kim's Prime Rib

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
I used the concept of the soy, worcestershire, etc. in this recipe and added it to my version of Beef Roast. I've been making roast by making slits into the meat and squeezing in garlic cloves sliced in half and coating with Lipton Onion Soup Mix. This time I followed Kim's recipe and coated with the Lipton Onion Soup Mix (I cut down on the soy because Lipton Onion Soup Mix already has salt. The flavor was outstanding. Highly recommend this recipe. Thx.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
Yumarooneee!!!!!!!!!!! Storing the chicken wings in the refrigerator for 60 to 90 min. definately is a must for making these super crispy. Also the making sure the oil is hot enough and cooking them for the lenghth of time the recipe calls for gives them its success.

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
Alot better than what I expected. While it was cooking, I didn't think it would come out as great as the reviews stated. But once I placed the meat onto french bread, laced with provolone and american cheese, slightly broiled, it was fabulous. Next time I will make more....we are a family of 5 and it was barely enough for all of us that I had to spread the meat thin so as to have enough (and 1 of my children is 8 and eats small portions). It's a KEEPER!!

Wonderful Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2010
This recipe was very good. Because I had strawberries on hand and needed to use them up, they were added to this recipe (sliced thin). I also subsituted the milk for buttermilk, cause buttermilk makes everything taste better. And because I added buttermilk, about 1 scant tsp of baking soda was added in addition to the baking powder. The baking powder reacts with the acid in the buttermilk enhancing the rise and fluffiness factor. Also added some vanilla and butter extracts (about 1 1/2 tsp.). Make this recipe and enjoy.

Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
So yummy!!! Made it to serve along side a ham dinner. I swirled a bit of maple syrup arount edges when acorn squash was right side up. I also spinkled just a tad of salt and black pepper to just enhance it's natural flavors. A very simple recipe that shows through the acorn squash flavor. Next day - makes great leftovers for lunch. Will definately be part of my repertoire.

These are scrumptiously Good & ever so easy. Ya can't go wrong in making these. The only problem I had is that I used the large biscuits (Grandes), therefore because I had a larger quantity in the pan, they took longer to make. A definate "KEEPER"

Holiday Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
This chicken salad was realy fab!! I did add some extra seasoning, etc...I know, I know, one should judge according to the exact recipe, but unless it's not baking, a savory recipe can be made according to each taste. So anyway, I added about 1/2 c. of finely chopped red onion. Instead of the seasoning salt I subbed Adobo all purpose seasoning (Goya), some hot sauce to taste (just a bit to give it some zing in the background), 1/2 lime juice, walnuts (toasted) instead of the pecans, red bell peppers instead of the green (cause I didn't have any). It was realy very Good.

Easy Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
This was a really tasty slow cooker ham. I especially loved that on a Monday, I came home from work and had a great tasting ham to serve due to the wonders of a crock pot. I had my misgiving due to some of the negative reviews stating that it was dry, too much spices, etc. I didn't follow the recipe exactly (I know, I know, it's not fair to judge a recipe if you're changing it, but let's face it we all do it), but next time, out of curiosity I will follow as stated, except for the amount of apple cider which I used only 1 c. and next time will use 1/2. Here's what I did: I used 1/2 to 3/4 of the amount of spices, used only about 1/2 tsp of nutmeg because nutmeg can be overpowering in my opinion. Omitted the maple syrup, orange peel, horseradish, vanilla and the whole cloves. Added about 1 1/2 T dry mustard. I wanted a more traditional spiced ham and it realy came out moist and delicioso. For those who are looking for an oven looking ham where the meat doesn't fall off the bone, than place it in the oven in the traditional manner. But if you want mouth watering easy pleasy ham when you come in the door after a long day's work, or for that matter - enjoy yourself on the weekend instead of slaving in the kitchen, this is the recipe for you. And yes, like most of you, my ham jutted out of the top a bit so I covered it with foil, placed the lid over it, duct taped the lid to the pot and weighed the lid down with a jar. Used a smoked pre-cooked Smithfield picnic shoulder
