About this Cook
I am a mother of 2 boys. I started cooking after the birth of my oldest son. Cooking became my "me time" and is now very therapeutic to me. I love being in the kitchen and I love experimenting with new ingredients and trying new cooking methods.
My favorite things to cook
I've always loved to bake- cakes and pies, cookies, cobblers, muffins. Everyone always enjoys that kind of thing. My favorite thing though is to cook fancy dinners for our adult friends. I can be more creative with ingredients and presentation than usual when I'm cooking for my little boys!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Saturday evening my family cooks a themed meal. Our oldest son chooses a part of the world and we create a meal using recipes and ingredients that would be common to that region. It's become a great way to teach our kids about different cultures and gets them interested in trying new foods.
My cooking triumphs
Hmmm, I'd have to say cooking for my father. I don't get to do that very often and he is a phenomenal cook! So far, he's enjoyed every meal/ dish that I've made and even asked me for a few recipes!
My cooking tragedies
I don't really think I've had any actual tragedies. I've definitely made my fair share of mistakes but they have been on the small scale and I've just learned from them.

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes
I made these last night and they were delicious. Even my 6 and 2 year olds loved them. I doubled the horseradish and lemon and added some dried parsley flakes- mostly for color- and parboiled the potatoes first and they came out wonderful. Will definitely make these again.

Beef Stroganoff III
This dish was pretty good. I made this recipe last night and made some of the changes recommended by BEEZLYS 10/10/2004 and I think it was a mistake. It was a little too much for me. I will definitely make this recipe again but next time will follow it as is. Thanks Donna. Update- I made this recipe a second time following the directions exactly as they appeared in the published recipe- much better than my first attempt with the modifications! Thanks again.
