Mongolian Beef and Spring Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
I used less brown sugar then called for. The addition of a little hoisin sauce was perfect! Next time I'll make sure to lightly coat the cornstarch. I served with rice and bean threads...yummers!

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
Almost perfect! Next time I'm going to triple the spices and soak the chicken in buttermilk with a little salt overnight. I used half of the oil.

Quiche

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
My family doesn't eat quiche, but I like it! After making this they are now quiche people. I used cheddar, swiss and parmasean, which was on-hand. I also added fresh mushrooms, ham and green onions sliced. I baked @ 350 for 45 minutes. Wow!

No Bakes

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
These were great. I simmered on low for 15 - 20 mins and turned up the heat towards the last minute or two. When a softball formed in cold water I was done.

Chicken Asparagus Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2011
I only used half of the lemon and no zest, but it was still overpowering. I had complaints. I used thin cut chicken breast. It is a pretty dish to serve.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
I used half sweet and half spicy sausage, which was the perfect amount of heat (omitting the need for red pepper flakes). The kids loved it and that's all that mattered to me.

Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
I halved the meatball mixture and followed the exact measurements on sauce mix and it turned out really good (I added red pepper flakes to spice it up a little). I can't fathom following the recipe as stated, becauce the sauce mixture is not enough for that many meatballs.

Brussels Sprouts Gratin

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2011
I happen to love brussel sprouts, but there's nothing great about the recipe. I hoped it would be something I could serve during the holidays, but it's not up to par. Steamed with a little bit of butter is perfect for me. It's probably just the nature of serving brussel sprouts to non-likers.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
I added splashes of cinnamon and used chicken broth instead of water. It was the best enchiladas that we ever had! Even better than we have had in MX. Of course, I kicked up the flavoring ingredients a little. I made the full recipe, which served 4 of us and froze the other half.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
This was awesome! I made it for Thanksgiving and am just now getting around to reviewing. I gave this recipe to many people who asked for it. I made some notes about using red wine vinegar, and not all of the sugar. Basically just followed the top 10 helpfuls. Thanks!

Veal Scaloppini with Lemon Cream Sauce

The amount of lemon was too much for me. I could barely eat it, even after trying to lean it out.

More like 3.5 in my opinion. Make sure that you know the ingedients for flour is wrong. It's not 5 teaspoons, but 5 tablespoons.

Bless my husband's heart for making dinner for us tonight, but sshhhhh!!! It tasted a lot like pork chops with a spicy version of Thousand Island Dressing.

Thai Chicken with Basil Stir Fry

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
Unlike some other reviewers I thought there was a lot of flavor. I only used about 3/4 cup of the basil, because I was reluctant, but shouldn't have been. More would've been good. Also, added about 1/2 of a red pepper (to use it up) and splashed fresh lime. Yummy!

Pasta Primavera with Smoked Gouda

Followed directions exactly. Felt it was on the bland/boring side. Family ate it. I think I'll keep this recipe around and try it again with some smoked salmon.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This is the most perplexing reviewed recipe I'v ever seen. There was no way I could've doubled the sauce. It wouldn't have even fit into the pie. Boiling the vegies and chicken? The chicken dries out and the vegies loose their nutrional value. Baking the bottom crust for a few minutes first? The crust can't be sealed to the top, because it's no longer dough. It just breaks. Cooking @ 425? It was plenty brown @ 375. No seasoning to speak of, yawn.

Bolognese Sauce

3.5 if you will. This was a meaty dish. I had no problems with it being runny. As mentioned, I think the tomato sauce was meant to be tomato paste.

Thai Peanut Chicken

Doubled the sauce but only did 3/4 of the soy sauce and cayenne. Added sugar. Cilantro was a good addition. Shredded carrots would have made the presentation better.

Spicy Crab Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
I started off rating this a 4 and moved way up the scale to a 5! Use fresh garlic, tomatoe paste, extra tomatoes. Fresh basil and crab are nearly a must! I would recommend added the fresh crab towards the end of the cooking process. Let all of the flavors meld prior. This is sooooo yummy!

Awesome Red Wine Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
I followed the recipe with the exception of using beef broth in place of the water and added mushrooms. However, I didn't follow the method. I seared the roast, put it into the Crockpot, added the rest of the ingredients and cooked on low for 8 hours. An easy Sunday meal!
