Garlic Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
This was good! Cooked it the recommended 6 hours and my pork roast fell apart totally when I tried to slice it! Was really over cooked! Maybe my crock pot is a little too hot but that part was a problem. We were left with shredded pork. Flavor was good though.

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Wow! This was really wonderful! Very rich and delicious! I did save a few calories by using sugar-free pudding and light whipped topping. Also didn't have the chocolate bar for garnish so used Oreo cookie crumbles instead which worked very well. Will certainly make again!

Chef John's Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
This was really GOOD!! I used my old dumpling recipe because I didn't have self-rising flour or creme fraiche but followed the rest of it exactly. Mine was a little "brothy"; might try adding a little more flour next time. Added full 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper. Made it a little warm but certainly not too hot! My daughter ate 3 helpings!! Will certainly make again!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2012
This was wonderful! After reading reviews and because my peaches were pretty sweet to start with, I halved both white and brown sugars in the peaches and in the batter. The result was perfect!

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
Wow! These are great! After reading other reviews I made a few changes to try to make them a little healthier. Used 3 apples instead of two, only 1/2 cup butter, 2/3 cup sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Rolled apple slices in cinnamon sugar mixture before wrapping them in cough then put the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture into the melted butter and poured it over the dumplings. Everyone LOVED them!!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
Absolutely wonderful! Only change I made was to sub canola oil for the butter in the batter and added 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp vanilla. Wonderful cake-like texture too. Great breakfast for our teenage granddaughters on school days.

Caramelized Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
My wings didn't "caramelize". I did thicken the sauce with cornstarch which helped but I think we would have preferred the wings to be crispy on the outside......maybe grill or broil it after cooking. Otherwise we liked it but didn't love it.

Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
Sorry but we didn't like this meatloaf at all. Followed the recipe exactly except for changing it to 4 servings. Will go back to our old standard meatloaf next time.

Chocolate Zucchini Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
Really yummy!! Subbed 1 cup unsweetened applesauce for 1 cup of the oil and chocolate chips instead of walnuts because family doesn't like the nuts. Didn't frost it at all. Extremely moist and flavorful! Great way to use the abundance of zucchini in the garden!

Unbelievable Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2012
Yummy! I used fat free sour cream and added about half the cheese and stuffing mix to the squash mixture and topped the casserole with the other half of each. In addition, I didn't have cream of chicken soup so used cream of celery. Will definitely make again!

Wonderful!! Subbed 1 cup strawberries for nectarine (needed to eat them) and 1/2 cup ff sour cream with 2 T. apple juice, 2 pkt Splenda, 1/2 tsp vanilla & 1/4 tsp cinnamon instead of yogurt (my yogurt was spoiled). Absolutely delicious!! Would be great for a holiday meal or a potluck!

Boring. Husband really liked it though. Don't think I'll make it again because there are other things we like better.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2012
WOW! This was wonderful after it sat overnight! Made a number of changes to make it healthier and based on what I had on hand. Used real bacon bits, about 1/3 cup, instead of bacon. Also used dried cranberries instead of raisins, two packets of Splenda instead of sugar and about 3/4 cup light mayonnaise and 1/2 cup sunflower seeds. Was good without sitting but was way over the top the next night!

Cole Porter Slaw

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
This was excellent! I didn't have buttermilk so used 2% milk and used 1/4 cup non-fat plain yogurt and 1/2 cup light mayo instead of the 3/4 cup mayo in the recipe. Will definitely use this recipe again!

Really good! I did decrease the butter both in the pan and to pour over the chicken. Also used garlic flavored bread crumbs because that's what I had. Yummy!!
