Grilled Zucchini Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2013
We were under attack from an abundance of zucchini in the garden this year. This was a delicious way to use it up, especially the really fat sections of the zuke. Another reviewer had stated they had a problem with the seeds, we didn't have an issue with them. They grilled up and softenened along with the rest of the slice. The whole family enjoyed them multiple times this fall. Thanks for a great idea!

Mama's Italian Wedding Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
Solid 41/2 stars! I was totally prepared to add more spices to this when it was done. The only spice listed is in the meatballs, none in the soup. To my surprise, it didn't need a thing added for taste! I had to use chopped frozen spinach, since I couldn't find fresh in December in Wisconsin :) and I always make my own broth from Orrington Farms soup base. This was a great hot soup for a cold winter night and will be added to our regular rotation. Even the picky 6 year old loved it (spinach and all). Thanks for a great recipe!

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2007
This recipe rocks! I've never thought of soup as a "comfort food" before, but we do now. I think it's only right to rate recipes as they're written, and this one was great as is. We of course, like most cooks, tweaked it to our personal tastes and added some garlic powder, extra potatoes, etc. Thanks so much for the great recipe ~ this will definitely be a cold winter staple on our menu!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
This chili rocks! The second time I made it, I pureed 2 of the cans of beans as another reviewer had suggested. It did make the chili thicker if that's how you prefer it. That being said, the recipe is great "as is" and served with some cornbread on the side is the perfect dinner for when the weather starts turning cold.

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Tortilla Chips

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
I made this for a family get together yesterday and I'm really disappointed....disappointed that I wasn't making this ALL summer long! Super easy to make and incredibly yummy. Everyone loved it and it was the first thing to disappear. I followed the recipe exactly (except to double it), but I would think you could use whatever fruit you wanted & still have it turn out fabulous. Thanks Chrissy K for a great summer recipe!

White Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
If you judge this recipe by "italian taste" standards and not by NY pizza rules, it is a very tasty spin on a traditional pie. We didn't really know what to expect, but enjoyed it alot more than we thought we would. Added a few toppings, but other than that we follwed the recipe exactly. give it a try !!

Beef Noodle Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2005
what can you say bad about this recipe? Everyone likes it and it's super easy to make after a long day at work. Plus, you can customize it according to your tastes or what you happen to have on hand that day. I always add corn & mushrooms. I also, like other reviewers, make more potato's than the recipe calls for. I've found that making a serving for 6 (according to the box) covers a 9x13 pan perfectly. We also add the cheese during the last 10 min's of baking - just enough to melt it. Great recipe for a cold winter's day !! Thanks Cathy

Grilled Strip Steaks with Horseradish Guacamole

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
This sounded a little "wierd" at first...putting green guac on a steak? I didn't have any dill on hand so made it without - we both loved it. Great unexpected mix of flavors!! We made it a second time & included the dill, and we didn't like it near as much. Will definitely be making alot in the future (just dill-less) ..thanks for a twist on plain 'ol steak !

Amish Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
I have to agree with the minority on this one. The meatloaf was just plain mushy...terrible texture. The flavor wasn't too bad, but again, the mushy meat just made it inedible as others reviewers stated. This may be how it's supposed to be, we just didn't care for it.

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
I would give this recipe 4.5 stars if I could. Didn't knock our socks off, but it was a quick meal w/ a great taste. I used 1 cup of beef broth instead of the water, and added red pepper flakes for some heat and color. Great basic recipe that's easy to alter according to your own tastes. Will definitely be making this one again !! Thanks Pearlie !

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2005
With only two ingredients, this one is hard to screw up !! Add to that the convenience of putting it in the crockpot before work to cook it, and you have a super easy, tasty dinner. We used a boneless 3lb ham but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Came out great - will definitely make again !!

Cheddar Jalapeno Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2005
These shrimp are delicious !! We added cajun spices to the shrimp before wrapping just for a little extra heat. Also, heeding other reviewer's advice, I cooked the bacon 1/2 way before wrapping it on the shrimp. Doing it this way, the shrimp didn't overcook on the grill. This is a new grilling staple for us - Thanks so much for the great recipe !!

Aussie Chicken

My BF and I love this recipe - it's earned a regular rotation spot for dinner. The flavor is incredible and the leftovers taste just as good ! The only change we make is to use whole button mushrooms instead of fresh.

Just the right amount of spices and seasoning. We made this on a "steak and shrimp" night and served with rosemary/garlic red potatoes. Great recipe !!

Chicken Jambalaya I

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2005
Developed a craving for Jambalaya and allrecipes to the rescue! This dish was incredible ... and the little leftover we had was just as good the next day. The only changes I made to the recipe was to add some keilbasa chopped in small pieces, small salad shrimp and extra hot sauce. I also cooked the rice separate and added at the end just because I was afraid if it getting "mushy". This is a better jambalya than we can get at our local cajun restaurant! I served with warm cornbread muffins and it was a huge hit. Great Recipe Suzanne!!

Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2004
Absolutely loved this recipe! It was the best soup I'd ever made...my family thought so too. The only variation I made to the recipe was to add cubed chicken. Also instead of paying for chicken broth, I made my own with soup base and water. Highly recommended recipe !!
