Pantry Puttanesca

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
This was delicious, quick and easy! What's not to like? I followed the recipe almost exactly with a few minor tweaks. First, I used an immersion blender to blend one can of the tomatoes. This gave a bit more "substance" to the sauce. Also, we're anchovy fans, so I doubled the amount suggested. The extra anchovy did not impart a fishy taste at all. Thanks Julie, this one is going in my regular rotation!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2014
Delicious and so easy! I used arborio rice which worked perfectly. Husband doesn't like cinnamon or nutmeg, but I added them separately to my servings and it was wonderful. Such a comforting, old-fashioned dish.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2014
Delicious salad and a nice change of pace from the standard green salad. I cut back the mustard (used Dijon) to 1/2 teaspoon. I made one batch of dressing with 1 and 1/2 teaspoons per the recipe, but thought the mustard overpowered an otherwise yummy dressing. Try starting with a lesser amount of the mustard and add more if it suits your taste. Otherwise, this was a winner.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2013
Absolutely superb lasagna. The sauce is divine. The only adjustment I made was to use a tad less fennel (I'm not a big fan). Otherwise, I made it exactly as written. By the way, it fits perfectly in a 9 x 13 pan, so no worries there. Thanks Chef John for another top-notch recipe.

Passion Bars

These are delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and they came out perfectly. Like other reviewers noted, I lined the pan with parchment paper for easy release. Cut small pieces--these babies are rich!

Split Pea Soup with Rosemary

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2013
Delicious and easy to make soup! I removed the bacon from the pan after it was done cooking as I did not want it to burn while the veggies were cooking, then added the bacon back along with the broth. I added some chopped acorn squash since I had it on hand and it was a very tasty addition. Also added about a 1/2 teaspoon salt a little pepper when it was done cooking. Will definitely make this one again.
