Quinoa and Black Beans

We really liked this. Yes, I made some changes/additions like others. I had some celery wilting away in the fridge, just added a small stalk chopped up with a red onion. Chopped up a 1/2 yellow sweet pepper with that too. Did not add the corn since I did not have any. Made my own black beans (1/2 lb. dry). I used chicken broth also. But will definitely make again!! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Very Chocolate Ice Cream

Where is the 10 star box! I now use this as a base for all my ice cream. I did start out making the chocolate, then I made it without the chocolate ingredients. And I also made STRAWBERRY and OREO COOKIE ice cream! I think the strawberry turned out the best, next to the plain vanilla. I used frozen strawberries; thru them in a bowl to thaw with 1/4 cup sugar; cut the sugar down to 1/2 cup to the milk. Once the strawberries were thawed, I put them in my "bullet" to puree before adding to the cream mixture. I will never be buying store bought ice cream again. And yes, take your time making the custard - you won't be sorry.

Simple Carnitas

This is the bomb! I have already made this 3 times! As others, I read a lot of the reviews and went with using limes instead of the oranges. I also cut back on the Kosher Salt. I use chicken broth in place of the water. Cooked in my dutch oven on my stove top as directed. Any left overs get frozen to use for camping when in need of a quick dinner!

Hoagie Bake

I have now made this quite a few times. I change it up a bit with just ham, cheese and ham. I also sprinkle in a wee bit of Italian seasoning in middle of the sandwich.

Zesty Porcupine Meatballs

ok, gave these a try and was quite surprised. I did add a little extra spices to my meat mixture. I ended up adding about a half of a cup plain bread crumbs to thicken up the meat. My husband did not care for the sauce, but he did like the meatballs.

Rice with Black Beans

Made some Pinto Beans the other day. Bought the big ol' bag from Sam's Club. Well had 2 cups worth in fridge and went looking for a recipe on this well loved web site. So I gave this certain recipe a try. I used basmati rice instead of the white. My husband and I prefer this and also bought the big ol' bag from Sam's. I also used diced canned tomatoes, added cilantro and cumin (which is yummy) but felt it was still lacking something. After it was dished on my plate, added some dashes of cayenne pepper. We still felt it was missing something. I did read on using salt, but our intake is quite enough with all the processed foods out there. Do not need to add more if not need be. I will definitely make this again, but may make some beef kielbasa to add too it.

Breaded Parmesan Chicken

I will be making this again! I used seasoned (garlic and herb) bread crumbs and used egg to dip the chicken in before the crumbs. I added butter to my pan to give the chicken more crunch. I served over penne noodles and homemade spaghetti sauce. And of course, garlic bread & a good red wine on the side.

Hamburger Casserole

This is going to be one of our favorites! The only thing I changed was the noodles - used the regular macaronni noodle. But otherwise I followed the recipe. I will have to serve with cornbread as I read in another review.

Taco Seasoning

I was in the mood for tacos, but my husband is on a low sodium diet. I am always looking at the products to see what the sodium content is. Well package seasoning is really high! I came across this and just had to try it... well ... THIS WAS AWESOME! Made it with ground turkey and used whole wheat wraps. I mixed with 3/4 cup of water and let simmer for about 15 minutes on low heat. The only different thing I used was onion powder instead of dried minced.

White and Wild Rice Pilaf

I read a few of the reviews about different broths and and adding a bouillon cube. I added a beef cube to the 3.5 cups of broth (one veggie, one chicken). I believe it turned out awesome. Both my husband and I will make this again! We did use the food processer to shred up the veggies, but the next time we will just use the food chopper.

Dog Treats I

My dog loves his new treats - making 2nd batch today, will add a little peanut butter to see how that works out. When baking - make sure they are a good 1/2 in or more away from each other. Or you will be baking them longer.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Altered this recipe - did not have any celery, so I chopped up some carrots. Made a double batch on Wednesday - gone by Saturday. And I only had one bowl!! Will be making this again!! Thank you for this recipe.
