Shiny Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2014
This will be a new go-to recipe for me. I generally find decorating cookies to be tedious work, but if I'm going to do it (which I do, every Christmas), then this is a really easy icing to work with.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2014
Delicious cookies and really pretty too. I usually chill the dough for about half an hour to make it easier to work with. Strawberry jam is really nice in these as well.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2014
These cookies are easy to make and are always one of the most popular items on my christmas cookie trays. Peppermint extract is a tasty substitution for the vanilla if you want to try something different.

Braised Pork Ragu

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2014
This was tasty and filling- it went well with white rice. If I make it again I would add 3 or 4 carrots rather than just the 1.

Quick and Easy Mexican Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2014
This was tasty. I followed the recipe exactly other than adding much more than a pinch of cumin. If I make this again, I would like to try rubbing the chicken with homemade taco seasoning, as several previous reviewers mention doing; I think it would taste even better that way.

Rhubarb Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2014
Delicious! I will definitely make this again. However, as has already been mentioned by previous reviewers, the baking time is way off - mine took about 55 minutes. I also used 8 x 4 pans rather than 9 x 5.

White Fiber Mini Shells with Cherry Tomatoes, Basil and Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2014
Loved this. Simple recipes like this one that utilize just a few fresh ingredients are very refreshing to make and to eat. I added a pinch of crushed rosemary on a whim but this recipes needs no changes at all.

Super-Simple, Super-Spicy Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2014
I thought this was good...and nice and easy to make. I used sirloin steak instead of flank, yellow onion instead of green, added carrots, and dramatically cut back on the red pepper flakes. My only complaint is that, like other reviewers have also mentioned, I found this dish a bit too salty. I would make this again, but only with a low sodium soy sauce.

Sausage Flowers

Reviewed: May 30, 2014
Made these for a party and they got a lot of compliments. Followed the helpful advice of several past reviewers and baked the wonton wrappers for about 6 minutes before adding the filling and putting back in the oven to finish baking.

Cheddar Onion Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: May 20, 2014
Good biscuits. Like other reviewers, I needed to use more buttermilk to bring the dough together (about 1/4 cup). While I did enjoy these overall, I wasn't super crazy about the flavor of the dried minced onion...If I made them again, I would use green onions instead.

Aunt Norma's Rhubarb Muffins

Reviewed: May 15, 2014
These were exquisite....moist and delicious. Can't wait to make them again. Left out the walnuts because I'm not a big fan and added an extra 1/2 cup of rhubarb.

Dominican Style Oatmeal

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
First tried this about a year ago and have enjoyed it many times since. Creamy and soothing with just the perfect amount of sweetness. Love the addition of cinnamon and nutmeg. I have tried homemade oatmeal several other ways prior to discovering this recipe and not liked it nearly as much - before trying this I preferred the instant oatmeal packets to making it from scratch. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Cheesy Chicken and Yellow Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2014
This really exceeded my expectations. Loved the Goya Yellow Rice. Only (minor) change was I used a seasoning blend I already had along with a little black pepper instead of the Goya All-Purpose. Tasted just as good reheated over the next couple days.

Apple Banana Cupcakes

Loved these and so did family members who tried them. They have a quite unique flavor. Frosting/icing is really not necessary. Used yogurt instead of buttermilk.

Pound Cake Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2014
Lovely, buttery cookie and so little effort is required to make these. I also used Hershey Kisses in the center instead of pecans as I had some leftover in my fridge from Christmas. I plan on making these again with jam. I didn't follow the directions exactly as written...after beating in the egg yolks, I beat in the vanilla, then gradually stirred in the flour with a wooden spoon, as this is the method I am accustomed to when making cookies.
