Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
I would not make this recipe again. I am a southerner through and through and this is nothing like the cornbread that I grew up on. Sorry! I did not care for this at all!

Blueberry Buttermilk Coffeecake

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2006
I made this coffecake last Sunday for my college Sunday School class. I have to be honest. I was very disappointed in this cake. It does make a very thick, tall cake in a 9 x 13 dish, but it is not exciting at all. I would not make this again for all the trouble. Sorry. I am a good cook, but this one is not for me.

Low-Fat Blueberry Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2006
I made these muffins this afternoon and they smell so good when cooking! I only made one change to the recipe. Instead of using blueberries, I used a bag of Sunmaid Cranberries. The muffins are very, very good. I definitely plan to keep a batch made up and individually wrap and store them in the freezer. I love having something to grab and go in the morning on the way to work. These muffins will be perfect. A very healthy tasty recipe. Oh....and I finally found the wheat bran on the organic aisle in my Publix grocery store.

Baked Ziti IV

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
Made this for the first time tonight and it was good but a little on the dry side quite honestly. I followed the recipe to the letter. The basic taste is good but I think I would add more sauce the next time. The 1/2 jar leftover from the recipe, I heated and offered to my dinner guests to spoon over their helping of ziti. The slight dryness is my only complaint. I can only give this a 3. Sorry.

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2006
Just made a double batch of these buttery croutons and I am just thrilled with how they taste. I don't think I will ever serve store bought croutons for guests again. These are so easy to make. I used garlic powder instead of fresh and they were still delicious!! Very easy and quick to make. As other reviewers have said, I could not keep my hands out of them! YUMMY!!!!

Cranberry Chutney I

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2004
I personally did not like the flavor of the spices with the cranberries, apples and raisins. I think I would have actually like the mixture without the cinnamon, ginger, allspice and cloves. Sorry.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2004
WOW WEE!!!! It is DELICIOUS!!! Honest to Pete.......aboslutely wonderful. Way better than Crunch and Munch!!!!! I followed the recipe exactly and cooked for the whole hour. PERFECT!!!!! One thing that I thought made things a little easier. I have the BIG Tupperware Salad Bowl. I put the popcorn in that bowl and then poured the caramel mixture over. Then put the lid on the bowl and shake, shake, shake. It coated everything well, much easier than trying to stir it with a spoon with popcorn flying out of the bowl. Worked great. I also used aluminum foil baking pans sprayed with Pam. No problems at all!!! IT IS SO GOOD!!!!!!

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2004
This was just an o.k. recipe in my opinion. I made it for a teenagers gathering and of course they ate it up, but to be honest if I were making an ice cream dessert, I'd stick with a recipe that I love called Oreo Ice Cream Delight. I am new to this site and if I can figure out how to post a recipe I will post it there now. YOU MUST TRY IT!!!!! EASY and gets the most fabulous comments everywhere I ever take it!!!!! Try it and you will see.

Sweet Green Bean Bundles

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
Was excited to try this recipe for an upcoming dinner party. The bundles really are a lovely presentation, impressive. I used fresh green beans and steamed them first and partially cooked bacon before wrapping. Uncovered the last 15 minutes and the bacon looked very nice. They were really good, but I think I might look to some of the other green bean bundle recipes and add other ingredients to the sauce so it isn't quite so sweet. The idea is wonderful and they really look beautiful!!!
