Split Pea and Ham Soup I

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2011
Really good for my first try! I didn’t have an onion on hand so I substituted with 1 tbsp of onion powder. I filled up my pot until everything was covered but that ended up being too much water. But that was easy to fix since most of the water floated to the top and the split peas stayed at the bottom so I just scooped out what I needed. I think next time I’ll just use 2 quarts or less of water regardless of whether it covers all the bones or not. I ended up adding 3 cups of chicken broth just to add more flavor and went heavy on the salt and pepper because it tasted too bland without it. Will definitely try this again with chopped onions and carrots next time.

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
Really delicious! I just made a few alterations. I used a bag of fresh spinach and spicy Italian flavored chicken sausage from Trader Joe’s so it probably came out a little less flavorful than if I used pork sausage. To make it less bland, I added some salt, fresh pepper, and crushed red pepper and that fixed it in a pinch. I also added a can of white kidney beans.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
I don't even like pumpkin but this was so good! It probably helped that I added an entire bag of semi sweet chocolate chips to this... love chocolate and pumpkin. =D

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
It was my first time making chili and it turned out great! I only had a 16 ounce can of tomato sauce so I added 1/2 cup more salsa and it still turned out fine.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
These were the first cookies I had ever made from scratch and they turned out awesome, especially for a novice baker! The only changes I made were I used just 1 cup of chocolate chips, used room temperature eggs, and chilled the dough for 30 minutes before baking. I ended up with a dozen cookies which were all gone in 2 hours between me and my roomies.

Velvety Chicken Corn Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2006
This soup was great! I did make some adjustments. I listened to other reviewers and used only a few drops of sesame oil. I also added 1 cup of shredded chicken, 1 cup of diced ham, 2 eggs, and 1 (8 oz.) can of corn, drained.
