Harira

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
My Moroccan friends were really impressed by the harira. They did not think I can find an authentic tasting recipe on the internet. I make this every Ramadan for them. They love it! (I'm not Moroccan btw)

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
Followed the recipe except I left out the salt in the sauce, and it tastes just like the Tikka Masala from a restaurant which received raved reviews. I always grill the chicken as its smoky flavor is quite important for this dish. Thanks for sharing, Yakuta!

Cholay (Curried Chickpeas)

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
I followed the recipe but it tasted bland. It's missing something. Definitely needs more spices and herbs. But my Dad likes it.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2005
Everyone gravitated towards this dish at a party. They absolutely LOVE the sauce and falafel balls which I think tastes just like the falafels you get here in NYC. This recipe needs NO changes. I even had a fight with my uncle who hogged up too many servings and did not leave enough for others. ;)

Chef John's Swedish Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2014
So delicious! I watched Chef John's video and followed this recipe and my first time making these turned out awesome. I like it that the meatballs were baked first. I think this makes it less greasy than if I would've sautee them in the skillet. I also used pork with 25% fat as he recommended. Wow! The meatballs came out super tender. But you'll have to skim off a layer of fat in the gravy in the end. The gravy by itself is quite bland. The only thing I would change is to simmer the meatballs in the gravy for 20 minutes instead of 5, so the spices from the meat will carry into the gravy. This is a time consuming recipe best left for the weekend but well worth it.

Lemon Chicken Piccata

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2014
I love how the lemon slices brighten up the flavor. I thought the extra lemon juice was too overpowering so I had to leave it out. Another personal preference; it could use more garlic. But overall it was quite tasty and easy to make. I'll be using this recipe again for a superb weeknight meal.

Chocolate Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2012
If you love chocolate cheesecake, you're going to love this frosting. I did not have any confectioner's sugar but used white sugar ground finely and it turned out ok. The cream cheese did not dominate the chocolate flavor. It was enough to satisfy any chocolate lover. So delicious!

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This is an easy dish to put together and healthy too. As a spice fan I thought the original recipe was a bit bland. Sweet onions makes a big difference. I used Vidalia onions which bring out a sweet savory flavor. I tweaked it to my liking by adding cumin, chickpeas, and kasha, garlic and LOTS of onions. Excellent fiber. Thanks for the recipe!

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2004
Very flavorful and aromatic. The walnut topping is very tasty and crispy, reminded me of candy brittle. It's also surprisingly easy to make. Tweaking is not needed for this recipe. Mmmmm!!!
