If you alter this recipe, it's VERY good. The nuts really add to this dish. I made it with half the white sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter witht the potatoes, 1 tablespoon of butter and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar for the topping. I kept everything else the same.
I can't fathom making it with any more sugar or butter. Even this much made my stomach ache after I ate a bowl, and I'm the kind of person who can eat a pint of haagen daazs at a time without a problem.
