Chicken Hurry

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2007
I used cut up chicken with the skin on. It did not get crispy at all, after about 1 1/2 hrs in the oven, without any foil. As the other reviewers had suggested, use boneless, skinless breasts for this dish. I'm not a chicken skin eater,so the sauce was pretty much lost on this dish. The sauce was tasty, however,so I will most likely make it again. I added BBQ sauce and black pepper and some garlic powder.I also added more water than what was called for in the recipe, because the sauce just seemed too thick, and I wanted it to cover all the chicken. Overall good, just use the skinless chicken.

Leslie's Salty Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
Wow did these make a huge hit at a recent family cookout! Even the kids wanted 2nd's! I made 25 of these on a large grate over a campfire. I bought some pkg'd seasoning for potatoes in the produce isle, buttered each foil piece, sprinkled about 1/4 t seasoning and a sprinkle of coarse salt, rolled each potato in it,and wrapped it. They were all ready in about 1 hr,to 1 hr 10 min. All the potatoes were pretty even in size.I will be making these again! Thanks :)

Overnight Bubble Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
Oh my,this is sooo good. I doubled up the sauce as other reviewers had mentioned, and it was just fantastic.I actually reversed the schedule of this bread...I did it in the morning to bake right before supper. But I figured overnight is considered about 8 hrs,so I let it sit covered for about 7-8 hrs,and those babies were sky high and ready to bake by suppertime. I can't wait until breakfast tomorrow when I can have some with my coffee :) Thanks for a great, easy recipe!!!

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
This was really good! I marinated it(breast strips, not thighs) for about 45 minutes. The chicken was tender, and a beautiful golden brown color, thanks to the soy and worcestershire sauce. My family loved it,and I will be making it again! Thanks!

Ground Beef Mexican Style

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2007
This recipe was not as great as I thought it was going to be.1st of all,it was alot more work than it looked.Chopping the onion,gr.pepper, boiling the noodles, browning the meat,wow...that's alot of time for a weekday supper, which is when I made this. The noodles/mexican combo didn't really work for me either. Nobody in my family was raving over it. I have leftovers in my fridge as I write this.Sorry, just too much work for a so/so meal.

Restaurant Style Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
This is a keeper! I will be making my lasagna like this again. I did make some changes, like everyone always does; I used no-cook noodles, put about 1 cup sauce in the bottom of the dish, used jarred tomato sauce because I was time crunched, and browned the meat w/the jar of sauce. I layered it as stated in the recipe, added another jar of sauce on top of the final layer, and added more shredded cheese on top,but covered it,as stated on the box of no cook noodles. I baked it @ 375 degrees for 50 minutes, took the cover off and baked for another 10.Then I let it sit about 10 minutes.Awesome! This is the 1st lasagna that didn't run all over the plate when you try to serve it.My whole family loved it! Thanks for the great recipe! ;)

Maria's Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2007
This was good, but tasted very rich to me and my family, probably the cut of meat used(flank).I marinated the meat for about 6 hrs in the soy mixture called for in the recipe; this made the meat pretty tender.I served it with rice and it made a good meal.

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
I really liked this recipe. But the bake time was longer than what the recipe called for. I finally took my roast out about 20 minutes longer than the recipe indicated, and it was still quite rare for my husbands' liking. I would always get this cut of meat on sale at the store and never know quite what to do with it,other than just bake it...finally I can make something good with those "sale roasts" :)

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2007
Very good recipe! It was really easy to make, which makes it even better :) I added some dill(dried) to the butter mixture, and some black pepper, and it was very tasty. My whole family enoyed it. I will be making it again!

Steak Mix-Up

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
I thought this recipe was really good. The other reviewers were correct that the meat needs to simmer for awhile to be tender. I took the advice of one reviewer to add water, and beef bouillon to the simmering meat, but instead of Coke,I added red wine.My family is not huge on onion so I did not add it,to keep it simple. I mixed the canned tomatoes and cream of mushroom soup together with a little more water and let it simmer for about 20 minutes longer. I served it over noodles and it was great.

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2007
Very good; my family really enjoyed this salmon.Next time I would add more soy sauce and marinate longer; the flavor got a little lost during the cooking process.Overall a good easy recipe. Thanks!

Linguine with Peppers and Sausage

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2007
I really wanted to like this recipe, because its pretty easy to make, but I was disappointed. The noodles turned out to be just about plain. The wine "sauce" really didn't seem to make a difference in this recipe. As another reviewer said, next time I would use different noodles, and maybe add a small can of tomato sauce and some italian seasoning or something to punch up the flavor alittle.

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
This did not work for my family; The kids didn't like it and even my husband, who usually never complains about any food said he didn't like it.The crushed chips were floating around on the bottom of the cassarole dish, and that made it hard to serve. Not great flavor either. It was edible,so I gave it 2 stars, but will not be making it again.

Oven Fried Potatoes II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
Quick and easy, and very good.Baking at a high heat keeps the outside crispy and the inside was incredibly soft and good. I added some "Steakhouse" seasoning(the kind you get at the grocery store) and sprinkled that on the potatoes before putting them in the oven. The family loved them.

Very moist and very good meatloaf. I made mine into 4 loaves and baked alittle longer,to get some crispy ends(my husband loves that). He raved about the sauce, and even my picky teenager liked it.Its a keeper!

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
A very good tasting dip.Make sure to use a large, flat platter or dish to serve this on. It makes alot, and if the dish is too small,it gets really tall on the plate, and its hard to serve. But it was good, and I'd make it again.:)

Red Slush Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
This punch was a big hit at a baby shower that I hosted. I had 25 people and made the recipe amount that was shown originally, and had a ton left over. I also took it out of the freezer about 1 hour ahead of time,to allow it to thaw a little bit,so it wasn't a huge ice chunk in my punch bowl. Also,it takes a good 8 hrs to really freeze up,so making this a day ahead of time is a really good idea. Overall a very good punch :)
